My husband and I found this gem in Ito. The bread, pastas (funghi and carbonara) and wine were all delicious! The staff were very friendly and understood a lot of English, but there was an Italian menu that helped too. Would definitely recommend this place!

After weeks of international cousin, we were searching a good italian restaurant to break with familiar taste. We found this small/big restaurant with a good choice of italian dishes. We tried amatriciana, vitello tonnato, linguine, pasta al pomodoro for the child, tiramisu and mixed salami. All perfect, also focaccia bread was really tasteful. To try again and again.

This restaurant was perfect : people, local, atmosphere, food, wine, serving, and actually if you close your eyes and taste the food you think you are in Italy and not in Japan.
I love the Japanese food but after a few weeks in Japan I needed something European and Il Golfo gave us exactly what we were looking for : perfect antipasti, wonderful pasta and tiramisu and ... a very good Glas of wine ... heaven in a bottle ;-)
The owner, an Italian gentleman was very nice to us and we really enjoyed the time in this small restaurant and the wonderful meal.

The Italian food here is excellent. Menu is a continuously changing seasonal blackboard menu with a wide variety of outstanding dishes.
Entrees included a sardine "cake", white beans and black cabbage, stuffed spicy tomatoes, and pasta is offered with a variety of sauces. For main course the meat dishes are great. The grilled lamb was the most tender I have ever eaten and the perfectly cooked beef steak so large we had to share it between two.
My tripe loving sister noticed the chef preparing some for dinner when we were there for lunch some months ago on a previous visit to Japan and last night was able to enjoy some in a spicy tomato sauce. Best ever she said.
If you can manage dessert you won't be disappointed. We had only one slice of the tart on offer between us, but would have liked to try some of the other things we saw customers enjoying. The Italian house red wine was good and there were several others on offer by the bottle. Great coffee finished off the meal.
There is one chef and one waiter in the small restaurant, seating only about 15 diners so best to book ahead for dinner.
Lunch has a more limited menu with several options for a set lunch. The panini set and the pasta set were generous and delicious.
A very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
