We stayed in a small double room, and it was just really tired. There were marks on the wall, some peeling wallpaper, a few hairs in the bath and stuck in the velcro attached to the hairdryer. However, the bed was clean and comfy, shower was really strong, the location was great and the breakfast was genuinely really good and kept really well stocked. A good choice if you're not looking to spend a lot of time in the room.

The location can't be better - next to the train and bus stations. There are plenty of eateries within walking distance that open late into the night. They pay attention to details, such as providing umbrellas at the front lobby to borrow and a coffee/tea machine from afternoon to late night so you can warm up after a long day sightseeing. Staff were friendly, spoke good English, and remembered me after just a day. The hotel is old but the rooms are well-kept and clean.

We needed somewhere close to the station for an early train, so chose here. Great value - free coffee and green tea, use of very nice Onsen in sister hotel (with a regular shuttle to take you there), free pretty good breakfast. Staff spoke reasonable English and were helpful.

On the negative side the rooms are tiny and dated. They only had non smoking rooms left which smelt pretty terrible.

There is nothing much to do in Matsumoto except the castle, miso factory visit, and a general walk around town.

This hotel is centrally located. Just across the road to the bus terminal, and adjacent to the JR station. Plenty of choices for food and convenient items. But not a town for major shopping. There isn't anything worthwhile to buy anyway.

The hotel does provide free breakfast, which is pretty good.

The hotel is close to the JR station, and there are many stores and restaurants nearby. Even when you feel hungry at night, you can still go out to grab something to eat easily. Although the room is not too big, it is pretty well-equipped and comfortable. The breakfast is offered from 6:30 in the morning, which allows people catching early trains some time to have something to eat. We all loved the breakfast as the food was exquisite (it is a buffet-style breakfast with limited options). Overall we had a good experience here!
