This is a fairly new hotel that wasn't there is 2017, but is available in 2019 (just in time for the Rugby World Cup and Summer Olympics)

I must say that this place is amazing. This hotel is heads and shoulders above the type of hotels you may find in Japan. Has a large enough rooms that people that choose a western hotel might like, and yet has good price and a device with free internet and international calling that you can take with you to explore Kanazawa (device is called Handy). In addition, it is right near Omichio market. We had an unbelievable 3 nights here and can't thank the staff enough.

One thing to note, we didn't opt for the breakfast - but that is because we are near the market and my wife loves seafood. Something to consider, as Kanazawa is one of the places in Japan with the freshest seafood - every restaurant you walk into has the freshest seafood (even outside the market)

The Square Hotel is very much on the square:. No frills, but friendly, functional, clean and well located. And also next to the Omicho Market, for some fresh fish however you like it. A long walk or a short bus ride from the station, but better yet an inexpensive cab ride, and always a cab at the can stands a few steps away. The lobby can get busy with tour groups, but, heh, the price was right, and checking in and out simple.

We stayed at this hotel for the last 3 nights of our trip to Japan. It is a reasonably priced hotel in an excellent location in Kanazawa, very close to the Omicho Market. We were able to walk to all the sites and restaurants. We had a superior twin room on the 12th floor. It was not large by our standards but the space is well utilized. The mattresses are firm and were fine for us, We also enjoyed the onsen in the hotel each night.
