First Kanazawa experience

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 10 Jan 2021via mobile
First family visit to Kanazawa, and the hotel gave us great impression of Kanazawa hospitality.
Room it's relatively small but clean with beautiful interior.
Just in the main Kanazawa so easy bro access.
No car park for family size car, but just the neighborhood have plenty park space.

We arrived 1 hour before our room was ready after a 2 hour journey from Takayama and a dreary walk with bags from the station. We thought we could get a coffee at the hotel and wait until we were allowed our room. We were told there was no bar or cafe and couldn't provide a coffee. The hotel is in a safe but bleak modern office area of no interest to a tourist. There are no shops or restaurants until you are back at the station. Now, I understand what some reviewers mean by the hotel being on the wrong side of the station. The west end of the station is not a fun area to be as a tourist, especially on the rainy evening when we were there in November 2019. Otherwise Vista Hotel is a perfectly good modern, smart (business) hotel with nice rooms hence my 4star rating. Kanazawa station has lots of good restaurants and shopping but it is in a station precinct. Bus from the station 15mins to historic sites. If just on a 2 night stay and if you want local bars and restaurants just outside the hotel you need to be in another area the other side of the station.

A very modern hotel and the wet room and separate toilet is nice, but with the smallest room throughout our tour.
Somehow it did fit all the modern amenities in, including a safe, but getting two suitcases open was a 'challenge'
The location and breakfast is good.

Probably one of the smallest hotel rooms during our tour of Japan, but like others, spotlessly clean. We managed to move a few things around so that we could open our luggage on the floor. There was a basin in the room, seperate toilet and seperate shower which took up a lot of the space. Not sure why they designed it like this as it probably took up more space than necessary. Apart from that, the breakfast was good with a large selection of western food to choose from.

Room tip: Doesn't matter

We found it a bit strange a part of the bathroom was located in the bedroom. Room was small but it you only bring small luggage then it is fine. Breakfast was good, a western and a japanese section. Reception was friendly and send our large luggage to the next hotel in kyoto.

We stayed for two nights in September. The rooms are small (not suitable for big luggage) but really clean an cozy. You’ll find everything you need; fridge, safety box, coffee machine and water boiler.
Very comfy beds and nice shower/bath.
The hotel is only 5-7 minutes away from the train station on foot.
All the sights though are in the opposite end of town which means a 30-minute walk. Good value for money.
