Stayed two nights here for Golden Week and understandably the hotel was quite full. We booked through japanican (highly recommended!) in January and were prepared! The prices are a little steep for the hotel but also expected this during Golden Week.
The hotel has a free public bath on the top floor (level 14, we did not try) and includes a buffet breakfast which exceeded my expectations. Both western and eastern style selection including scrambled eggs, bacon, rice, salad, miso soup, noodles, japanese style hashbrowns?, bread and pickles.
The room was average size for a twin room in Japan and the decor is quite dated. A saving grace is that there is an in room humidifier and the room temperature is controlled by your own air con with remote rather than centrally controlled - thank goodness as we always get too hot and stuffy in hotel rooms with central heating or cooling! Bar fridge is great to keep any drinks or small groceries cool. There is also an in room TV. The bathroom however is tiny and if you are tall, you will find it hard to change in there. Also after a shower it is super steamy!
Western guests may find the beds a little hard and they only give you one pillow however I still managed a good nights rest. We were on the third floor which is non smoking however there was still a faint smell of smoke in the hallways and in the room - the humidifier really helps with getting rid of this smell and circulating the air.
Staff speak enough English to get by and everything is well managed. I would describe this hotel as functional with the basics and as it is so close to Kanazawa Station (east exit and about 750 metres, easy 10 min walk), it is a reasonable choice for short stays.
