Review of Oka Hotel
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Feb 2018via mobile
The hotel is run by an old lady. We had communication problem with her but she was trying her best to help.
We stayed at 4 bedded room.
The room was cramped with 4 beds, only small space available for us to walk around. This didnt bother us much because we stayed only for 1 nite and we leave early in the morning.
This hotel located walking distance from Kanazawa station. Its like few minutes walking.

We've been there for one night. Perfect location, nearby the JR Station and 20min walk to Omicho market and 30min walk to the Cha district. Room was small but everything was in it's right place. The old lady at reception doesn't speak any english but, believe me, you'll understand her! At the end of the day she played koto (an old japanese instrument) for us and let my wife play it with her!
Choose it if you don't want an aseptic international hotel in your trip to Kanazawa (don't care if it isn't the cleanest in town). Price, including breakfast, was really good (around 50€).

This hotel is runned by a lovely old lady that, although she doesnt speaks english, is really helpfull and nice. The facilities are old and perhaps a little dusty, but the location is marvellous. Close to the station and a huge mall with lots of food options. The breakfast is continental (egg, toast, jam, coffee) so after day 3 you might be reconcidering your desicion. It has an elevator and a fridge.
Cons. Cigarrete smell all over the place.

very near and within walking distance to the main station where most would travel by bus or train. Facilities are complete, and the room is quiet. Although the hotel is bit aged, but the stay is very comfortable and spacious. the only odd thing is convenient market (conbini) is not as commonly found as other town (still able to locate one in the next street and the ones in station)

The hotel is 5 mins walk from the iconic Kanazawa railway station, which is why we chose it. Yes, the hotel is in need of a refurb, and rooms could be cleaned to a higher standard, but they were ok given that this hotel doesn't pretend to be something which it isn't. WiFi signal in the room was fine. We were allowed to leave our cases whilst we wandered around the city. We opted for breakfast which was fine. The whole place seems to run on just a small staff, which explains a lot. We were made welcome. The only gripe was that we could hear the whining of an electric motor throughout the night.

If you remember going on road trips as a child and staying in inexpensive motels then this is a throw back to those days. The front desk woman is friendly but think old school. They rooms are dated and our first room had mold around the tub enclosure . We moved to a newer room which was better. If you get a good price on the room and you are not picky it will do you fine. Otherwise it might be better for you to spend some more money.
