This was a fantastic Ryokjan experience. The staff were helful and accommodating. Beware however the web shows futons that are off the floor (bed) but this is mot necessarily the case. Most room have futons on the floor. The shared sento's/ onsen down stairs ( male and female separate) are fantastic - not to be misses. The typical Japanese breakfast was very enjoyable but take the dinner option, just delicious bit you do have to sit on the floor. Part of the experience.

A small ryokan with exceptional service. Food is extremely intricate and delicate. A very very memorable stay.

However the onsen is small but they do have a sister hotel nearby to share the onsen.

There's free parking and wifi too.

Unlike western style hotels, Ryokan Inn has no sound proof glasses for windows. However that Inn is located inside quiet street and quiet neighborhoods. It is small however welcoming and soothing for long distance travelers. Staff are friendly and helpful. We arrived on Monday which was a public holiday.

One reception Chinese staff could not explain me what kind of public holiday it was. He is not interested in local knowledge despite making the living with tourists. One English speaking girl with Kimono has better informative and explained about the communal bathroom and using Ryokan Inn Kimono and Japanese manners. She has lived in US, Australia and Taiwan before. No wonder she does not shy away from tourists and full of confidence.

Takarama is quiet town except when they celebrated floating festival of well decorated cart with gold plated wheels. There is not much sight seeing except quiet atmosphere and Onsen (hot spring bath). Hena beef is their local produce and American style bugger served with this beef.

Except for eating out and admiring their prowess for art and craft, Takarama is boring as Kanazawa. Tourists should visit there during the floating festival for getting excitment and fun.

That Inn is cute and 10 minutes walk from station. No need to catch Taxi unless there is extra heavy luggage. Taxi cost is not so cheap. As there are many lockers in every station, some tourists even do not bother to carry their luggage to the Inn just for overnight stay.

There is parking space available near that Inn and hotel staff will look after the car for parking in the limited space. Therefore it can be called as Motel for someone transiting at Takarama for other location.

Weekends and public holidays will be more expensive. Relax with Takarama hot spring.

Room Tip: As there is no special view except street, no particular room is required

Noting that we are in the 21st century, this is still a very charming, hospitable and very friendly ryokan. Our hostess was excellent and organised a very fulfilling and high quality meal for our family group of five. Very clean and neat rooms. Overall, a very charming place. I definitely return here.
