Really informative experience with samples of the floats, informative photos and videos of the processions. The largest collection of lion masks in Japan displayed. Must see marionette performance. Great in hot weather or a rainy day.

Small museum but really great to get a look at these floats. They are beautiful and some date back centuries.

The Floats are very well decorated. They are all very different and are used at Carnival time which is in April each year. Unfortunately we came a couple of weeks too early. It would have been a great Parade. A bit pricey to enter but good to see.

The float display museum was beautiful. There were five or six floats in a room that was completely enclosed by glass to protect them from light and people. The intricate details and craftsmanship of each float were apparent and it was easy to see why they are celebrated and displayed. The museum took about 40 minutes to go through, including the 10 minute video that showed the actual festival of floats. With your ticket, you also gain access to the Nikkoukan miniature shrine display museum next door which was even better, in my opinion. Combined, the museums took around and hour and a half to go through and it was worthwhile if you have time to dedicate.

One of the top 3 most beautiful festivals in Japan and we got to see the exhibits of the incredibly beautiful floats! Would love to come back to attend the Takayama Autumn Festival to see them live! Highly recommended!
