What a great way to spend around three hours or more of your day. These homes and buildings were saved and relocated to this beautiful spot to keep alive what homes and life were like in the 1700's thru 1800's. This is a great day out for all ages. Very much enjoyed it and recommend this place.

This is located on an upslope and pretty near to the eco bear museum. A definitely must visit when in Takayama. There are lots of traditional buildings here and have really pretty setting. Simply beautiful.

The village is made up of traditional Hida homes moved here from surrounding villages in order to maintain this cultural history. It is a lovely setting surrounding by forest yet very close to downtown Takayama.
You can watch crafts people doing traditional crafts and participate in some if you want to.

Visited on a cold and wet afternoon but felt it was worth it. I was particularly interested in the construction techniques displayed by the many ancient structures. As it was late in the day not all the workshops were open.
