Take a rope way to the half way of castle and then you have to walk little bit. Nice view from the Castle. There is also one museum inside of the castle. Go there when the weather is clear because then you can see far away, also sunset time is pretty nice. You can find also restaurant near the castle with amazing view!!!

As it was raining, we could hardly see the whole exterior of the castle and certainly no view at all. (I think even on a clear day, one also cannot get a good view of the whole castle as it was built at the top of the mountain surrounded with trees.)

If you are going to visit Nagoya Castle, you can save the 200 Yen admission fee required of the Gifu Castle museum as Nagoya Castle has a larger display of weapons and armor. Nagoya Castle is also much easier to gain access to.

I really enjoy visiting the castles of Japan. I enjoyed my trip up to Gifujo also, but not really because of the castle itself. Inside they have a fantastic, although small, display of arms, armor and items found from the original. The view at the top of the area was breathtaking. Literally. Even though I took the cable car to the top, there was still a short 10 minute hike to the castle itself over uneven stone walkways. Wear good shoes.
The castle museum was disappointing to me, as it was all in Japanese. There was only one display that I could appreciate of reproduction armor.
I do recommend spending the 200 extra yen to visit the squirrel village next to the cable car at the top, and also the palace excavation site nearby.

We were visiting friends who lived in Gifu yet had never been to the Gifu Castle. To get to the castle we came to a buy park and lined up for a very vertical tram ride to the top of the hill and then walked up to the castle. There are exhibits and markers showing where the officers lived, where the stables were, etc and inside many exhibits and portaits showing the former residents and weapons and tools of the times . It was interesting to imagine what it must have been like to ward off invaders from this white castle high on the hill!
