I stayed one day and one night in Nagoya. For the dinner, I had heard from a friend of this little Sushi Bar and had planned to try Omakaze Sushi during my trip to Japan. I made a reservation two days prior my venue. What a surprise when I arrived around 18:30 that I would be the only client for the first course that night. Only me and Kent, the chef. He took his time, and explained me every detail of his inspired cuisine, where he buy his fish, the time that he spend to work everyday, and where his inspiration is from. This meal was a trip through all Japan. This was the best sushi that I have ever eaten. You can clearly observe his passion for his food through every details for each sushi. Each sushi has a pinpoint accuracy and will bring you really interesting flavor. You can taste the freshness of the fish, the subtility of some marinated fish or even mozzarella! Yes as a little break after some sashimi and cooked sushi, the chef offers you a plate with some mozzarella and a third of a tomato. That was the most tasteful tomato I have ever eaten. Full of sugar and sun, even after having grown in the early spring. Following this delicious break, the chef will offer you some more traditional sushi, tuna and fatty tuna, tartare of the head of the tuna with spring onion, uni, unagi, and so more. The chef will accompany the course with sweet sake from Fukuoka and another one (cannot remember the origin) that will marry the sushi. For each dish, Kent gave me advice to get the best experience while savouring the Sushi. For dessert, it was a small amount of Sake Ice-cream, prepared by the chef with the help of a local ice cream business. Overall it was a fantastic meal that really highlight my trip to Japan for around 10'000¥ which is very reasonable for the experience. Thank you very much Kent for offering me this meal and all your recommendations for the rest of my trip in Nagoya.
