We stayed with a friend in Aqaba who recommended the Royal Diving Centre for swimming, snorkelling and sun-bathing. The entry fee of JD15 is great value. The snorkelling off the reef, just yards from the shore, is exquisite and magical and is a must-do. We had lunch from the beach-side bar/restaurant and it was not very good but we could live with that.
However, although we put up with the incessant, blaring music from the same bar for most of the day, at about 4:30pm, another disco started up by the pool. The result was just too much and we had to leave. All in all, a great day was spoiled by the cacophony of competing music systems, being blasted from the beachside bar, the disco at the pool and other personal music systems. Why does Jordan find it necessary to supply a soundtrack to so many wonderful experiences that deserve quiet?
If you want some peace - and it will be hard to find - move towards the left side of the beach as far from the bar as possible. I'd have rated this a 5 but for the noise.
