This is my third visit to this fabulous resort and I'll keep coming back for many years to come. The staff are wonderful and will do anything required and guide you to the best locations for food and any activities. They make you feel so welcome. Rooms are kept to the highest standards. Wonderful food and facilities. I would recommend this resort to couples or families.

Our family enjoyed staying at the Phu Thinh. It's not as big as some of the mega resorts by the beach but the staff have big hearts and the place is a lot of fun. Breakfast is delicious with omelets, pho, fruit, fancy breads, and all the regular buffet treats. The pool is well maintained and kids begged to swim in it about every hour of the day.

The front desk staff were very helpful in setting up excursions. We even asked for a rather complex itinerary involving flights and overnight trains to go explore Ho Chi Minh city, something that most hotels would probably just send you down to a travel office for. But, they came through for us, made all the phone calls and got everything squared away. They offer a shuttle service to the beach as well as the old downtown and there are bicycles to borrow as well. The historic district is near enough that we just walked to it.

We chose the city of Hoi An and the Phu Thinh as our main place to stay and took day trips and short over night trips up and down the coast to see more. Overall we were very glad we went with this strategy. Hoi An is a beautiful city, peaceful and quite, to relax with the family. The historic district is a family friendly party just about every night with lanterns strung above, lanterns floating in the river, great restaurants ( be sure to visit the Morning Glory and Brothers Cafe ), and lots to see and do. Being within walking distance was great and allowed us to spend more time with the locals and make some friends.

The hotel also has a nice book with all the day excursions you can purchase at the desk. Prices were very reasonable with driver and air-conditioned van included. The driver we had for our trips was a wonderful gentleman who was very kind and drove at a safe and steady pace. As parents of three children all prone to road sickness, we were more than a little thankful to him. They also have English speaking guides available for a bit more. We hired a guide on two occasions and were very glad we did. There isn't always a lot of signage in English so the explanations and cultural insights were great.

The hotel itself is inbetween the ancient town and the beach. By foot you have to walk about 15 minutes into the ancient town. By bike (which you can get from the hotel for free) it's much faster (beware of the motorcycles)! The rooms are clean and quiet as far as I can tell (ours was in the second floor, facing the pool side). Also it had a small balcony.
The staff was always willing to help and on our first day we were told some interesting things about the town. They really took some time and it felt like they were happy to inform us.
Also the breakfast was very good, with fresh fruit and black tea.

Furthermore there are plenty of restaurants, bars and supermarkets in the surroundings.

Would come here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with lovely balcony areas, a welcome change to the rooms with box windows we had experienced in hotels prior to this! The grounds are lovely and the pool is very nice. There could be more sun loungers made available however.
There is some construction work going on nearby, but overall I didn't find it impacted on our stay too much, perhaps this would have been different if we'd been in a room closer to it.
Fresh fruit and water was left daily by room service and a Vietnamese legend for a bedtime read, which was a nice touch. The breakfast was OK not the best I've had in vietnam but by no means bad.
It is quite a walk from the old town especially if it's raining 15-20 mins, but the free bikes were ideal for us and we loved our location as it wasn't too busy or too far out from town. We spent most of our time availing of the bikes and cycling out to the beach or into town it was a lovely way to see hoi an.
Overall a lovely hotel with nice staff, definitely recommend a stay here!

Personally for me this hotel was a mix of good and not so good experiences. The room we stayed in was spacious, high ceilings, if not a little dated. The A.C works well and kept the room cool of a night. The hotel has nice grounds and a small but clean pool. A nice touch was to be given clean towels the night before our 6.00am departure. The general service was good, with the hotel ensuring we could check in early and the airport pickup/drop off was arranged without issue.

So far so good! However, there are some drawbacks that travelers should consider. The hotel website describes the walk to the old town as "a few minutes walk" when in reality it is about 15-20 minutes. Luckily we didn't have children as it would have been a bit of a nightmare, particularly on some of the poorly lit sections of the road. The hotel does offer a shuttle to the old town but this isn't always at a convenient time. There is also building work going on right next to the hotel, work started at around 7.00am, perhaps when booking ask for a room away from the side where the work is taking place.

There are a limited number off sun loungers around the pool, which the hotel should look to address. Finally I would describe the breakfast as spartan, particularly in comparison with other places we have stayed in Vietnam. The food offered isn't bad per say, but there seemed to be some difficulty in keeping the already limited selection of food stocked up. This hotel is worth considering but there are probably better value places that are closer to the ancient town.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the building work!
