Owner description: Located on the banks of the poetic Thu Bon River, in central Quang Nam province, 30 kilometers south of Da Nang, Hoi An ancient town is an Eastern oriental classic captivation. With the strategic location on the banks of the great river, with one seaside border (East), it used to be one of the major trading centers in Southeast Asia during the 16th century due to the early western trader occupying period.

I wish I would have visited here 10 years ago. I’m sure it would have been so much more beautiful. The problem with quiet beautiful places is they get found out and then everyone wants to visit. Walking through the old town at night sometimes felt like being on a conveyor belt. Buses of different nationalities seemed to pass us in droves. But on the positive it offers respite from crowded cities such as HCM City. There are plenty of restaurants to cater for all tastes and lots of shopping to be done.

A fantastic little town, filled with thousands of lanterns at night. Will definitely return. We did several tours -- food and countryside by bicycle, which we would recommend.

Quaint little town, a lot of shopping and tailors. Reminds me of Europe. Lovely romantic and cultural experience in the town. Small cute streets. Recommend to go through the town by foot or bike. Tailors are amazing. We use An Cloth Shop - she was very professional and replicated my clothes exceptionally. Lanterns are lite at night which is very pretty. Streets are very busy though. Would stay here for min 3 nights. Would return. A lot of food choices. Great for family and couples.

Very busy. Lots of great eating places to choose from. Good market with souvenirs and local goods. Great to see the fish and fruit and veg. Daily night market for all your tourist souvenirs.

Tourists are required to purchase a ticket 120,000 VND (approx 5 USD) to visit the world-heritage listed sites. Best to travel with a local guide and we would recommend using one from Hoi An Express. Our guide, Dong, navigated us through the city thereby avoiding the masses. Plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and mini supermarkets. Note to those of Oriental descent, you may be mistaken as a Vietnamese which is a bonus when it comes to bartering however unpleasant when it comes to being serviced and waited at restaurants and bars.
