I’ve been traveling around Turkey for about a month now and as much as I love a Turkish breakfast, I was craving some food from back home. Rimo’s is a restaurant that specializes in crepes, pancakes, and waffles. There are traditional options and more experimental ones.
The owner, Atil, is incredibly passionate about his food and very easy to talk to. He has menus in multiple languages and took the time to explain the menu options.
We ordered a customized crepe with several types of cheeses, meats, and mushrooms. It was so delicious! The crepe was flaky and crispy, while also soft and tender on the inside. It was even better than the crepes I had the last time I visited France! Atil also suggested we try some of the pancakes. Being American, I had my doubts. How good can pancakes be? We tried the Kumpan and roast beef pancakes and they really surprised me. I’ve never had pancakes with these types of flavors before. The sesame seeds really add to the taste and the batter was rich and fluffy. The pancakes were used more like a bun and the ingredients were layered inside. Now I’m sad I won’t be able to find pancakes like that back home
I highly recommend giving Rimo’s a try. The food and staff made the experience incredible. I only wish I were in Izmir for another day to try the waffles as well!
