So I'll start with the good things about the Club Med. The gardens/scenery is amazing, the food is seriously superb, and the wine / booze is of excellent quality. The pools are lovely, the watersports are great and you can find a quiet place to sunbathe if you want to avoid all the music/noise. And the evening shows were utterly adored by the kids (2 and 4 yr old).
However we were under the impression that the GOs (the supervisors) at the kids club for 4-6 year olds could speak English. As the reviews we read indicated that they could. But this was not the case. There were only two GOs, Julie and Samantha, who were lovely and could speak English well, however they were not always at the 4-6 year old club. All the other GOs spoke very little English. 95% of the time the language spoken was French. This meant that the English only speaking kids (of which there were very few, no more than 2 out of 20 kids) felt left out. So despite all the great activities, if your child doesn't understand the language, then it makes it extremely difficult for them to make friends or to join in the fun. In addition there is no key worker, so because the staff change frequently, your child does not get a chance to 'bond' with a GO. After ten days some of them finally remembered my daughters name.
Also the night time kids films are shown in french (so Kung Fu panda would be in French).
The baby club (for 2 and 3 year olds) had more GOs who could speak English and Alex from Lausanne was a superstar.
On another downside, the rooms in the villagio are small. We fortunately had an interconnecting room which helped. However they also don't have windows, or if they do the windows are painted over. Very bizarre.
Finally, check-out is at 11am. If you want to extend this to 12, then you have to pay an extra 60 Euros, which is ridiculous. Also nappies/wipes on the resort are hugely expensive and the nearest supermarket is miles away, so pack extra.
I sound like I'm whinging, but we had a lovely time. And the resort is just stunning. It was just a shame about the kids club, which means that we won't be returning.
