There's an interesting story behind it & it's being nicely restored. It's a nice place to walk around & see boat traffic on the river.

Absolutely stunning. Don't just go by on a tour boat, take the tour that allows you to stay for a few hours. Note you need a passport and sometimes a visa. Visas can be obtained at the Ivy Lea US border crossing if needed.

Very interesting to see what Mr. Boldt envisioned as a tribute to his wife. One boat tour company combines this tour with a tour of Singer Castle, which is also excellent to see.

Make sure you walk around the grounds and sit on the verandah for a spell. Get the feel of living in the era. Lovely

I visted Boldt Castle back in the late 60's as a teenager. I choose Feb 2012 so that I could post.At that time it was owned by the state and in ruins. It's just amazing to me to see the restoration pictures. Let me add, at the time I was there the island and castle had pall of sadness hanging in the around it, especially the basement. it's now a beautiful place and I hope the feeling is long gone.
