We stayed for 5 night ... This is not the first Aman we have stayed so we may be a bit jaded.
Pros
Nice room(large room and patio area)
Housekeeping wonderful!
Restaurant staff at the (Thai restaurant and breakfast cafe)
free wifi
Gym was wonderful!
Spa
Cons
Beach bar service horrible!! (20 to 30 mins for a drink)
Breakfast was way over priced
A/C a bit difficult to keep area cool
No TV( this is a total preference my husband likes it)
Aman resorts try to learn your name or at least your room number( not at this Aman)

We travel quite a bit and have high standards(thus set by Aman resorts) it was a bit of a let down. (still a relaxing trip)

Room Tip: Garden view and up...

The hotel atmosphere is very nice and quiet. The views are spot on at times as well. But Amanpuri i thought the service and the staff needs a lot of improvement to be made and the attitude of the staff too. Thats the only down side but the rest its a cozy atmosphere.

When Aman resorts get compared to six senses four seasons etc its not fair, they are simply not in same league, certainly for service and food all have beautifully placed locations.

Of the Amanpuri s three restaurants two are perhaps superior or equal to any food ive been privileged to taste in London,Singapore,New Yorks etc best restaurants. In particular the foie gras Wagu beef from Okinawa and sea urchin at the Japanese restaurant and Italian were special.

The service is completely different to anywhere else. The whole team knows you and any special requirements before you even arrive such as nut allergies. You are never bothered by people asking to clean your room they hide until you both leave its uncanny. At the beach they use a hose to create a path of wet sand so you don't burn your feet etc etc its simply unparalleled.

Some people criticise the price. Bearing in mind the ingredients in the food, the fact that the staff are trained for apparently twice as long (English is the best ive encountered in Asia), they have extra staff the whole resort can be accommodated in each restaurant so bookings are not required and disappointments do not occur the price is fair.

Another criticism leveled is the noise from neighbouring resorts and granted there is an occasional firework or two. This is not quite as isolated as some other amans. However the benefits include trips to other areas/towns and local activites such as jet ski.

There are many imitators but this is the real deal.

We went here as our pre-baby trip and had a wonderful time.
Aman is known for their service and WOW I was impressed!!!!!!

The beach is super clean and they actually water them in grids so that your feet won't get hot when you walk... there's a round wooded floating thing in the middle of sea not too far from the beach where you can actually feed fish... and get this, if you feel like you're hungry, just holler and someone with a jetski will come by and ask what you need.

The food was EXCELLENT! Our butlers (maybe we got lucky because each villa is assigned to buttlers and they never change) were excellent cooks and very accommodating. We told them that we wanted to eat durian and they actually went to the market and find them for us. My husband was craving for a casava thai desert and we didn't know how to explain it to them but we drew it and they understood and managed to satisfy his craving.

We did one day on the Aman boat and it was awesome. They took us to the nearby islands and they even had someone to massage on board and a full on BBQ (with table settings and all).

It was an unforgettable experience!

We ate at the Thai restaurant with the misinformed notion that you get what you pay for. Sadly this was not the case.
The starters were tasty but essentially it was fried foods with dipping sauce. The only exception was the small parcel wrapped in a leaf. It was tasty and fresh. The mains were tiger prawns and a red beef curry. The curry was ok as were the prawns. But is this really good enough. The desserts were not good. Supposed to be lemongrass and chocolate creme brulee was terrible. I hit the top of it expecting it to shatter but instead felt a rubbery lump. It had a rubber-like texture from start to finish. I did not eat mine as it was crap. They apologised and brought me out a mango with sticky rice. The mango was good. I had one local beer and my partner had one glass of pinot noir. 5000 baht is a lot for bad food in Phuket. Not good enough or at all
