Make sure you go to this place in the afternoon. It has a great sunset view with hills, mountains, open sea.
This is around 30 to 45 mins drive from Patong area. Roads going there are safe and nice. There are a few places along the road that you can stop like elephant sanctuary, some beaches etc.

Lots of tourist buses visit here. We hired a scooter from Patong it would probably take around 30 mins ride.
After all the reviews we had read it was underwhelming after just visiting Windmill Viewpoint.
If your not on a tour and looking for something less busy then I would recommend Windmill Viewpoint over Promthep Cape.

It's not that you would miss something that is a must visit, but if you are visiting Phuket, you sure should make a trip here to catch a glimpse of the elephant shrines in plenty and the lovely sunset in the backdrop- it's just a great experience.

It worth to sea it .We went there in very hot day. Need to much water. Enough one hour to see it .going to the cape down was difficult for me I stopped on the middle of the way but my teenage daughters went all the way. Tok tok from patong wanted 1500 Bht to go and comeback but finally agreed for 1300. Wear something comfortable in your feet. And take water. Alcohol and smoking aren't allowed there.

This place is known for a place to capture sunset in Phuket Island. Truth to be known, there are many places in Phuket that you can capture that golden moment. You don't have to come all this way for that. This Cape, however is starting to evolve into a hideout for the overseas people that stay here for a protracted period of time, and a place where local wealthy people build their McMansions. Locals told me that should we come back here within a decade, the landscape there would change yet again. For now, let's enjoy Promthep Cape as how locals enjoy it since the beginning, a vast open area where humanity is being kept at bay - but for how much longer though.
