“Mangosteen Resort a gem!”
Reviewed 10 September 2012

We have just returned from a fantastic week at the Mangosteen. We participated in a great cooking class, amazing massages at the Ayurveda Spa, and received great tips from the staff on eateries and sightseeing. Hajo and Rose have an amazing group of staff who are friendly helpful and fun. James and Mac make the pool bar rock each day and is a fun bunch. Natty is fantastic with helpful hints of what to do and where to go, as were all the reception staff. Special thanks to Richard, Ian and Michael for showing us around both in and outside the resort. We have taken up the opportunity to become members and are looking forward to returning to this resort and other resorts through the membership benefits. The food within the resort was exceptional especially the Thai Buffet on Wednesday night and 5 Tastes of Asia on the Friday night. Joy, Rod along with the group of chefs and staff in the restaurant made eating an experience. There are also a number of great eating places outside of the resort including Tex Mex and the Sea Gypsy Market for an amazing seafood experience. Thank you to everyone who made our experience so memorable ... see you all again soon.

Please do not take notice of any negative reviews! Those reviews scared me so much and I nearly canceled our holiday. So glad I did not. We have had the best holiday ever! Service is excellent. The staff cannot do more for you and the place is a spotlessly clean paradise! We came with a voucher and we were not harassed once during our stay. I will recommend this place to all my friends and family as it is awesome. Away from the noise of Phatong beach but close enough by taxi for some retail therapy, if needed. We received a plate of fresh fruits in our room daily and felt really spoiled here.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent. If you need spoiling ask for a room with Jacuzzi.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mangosteen Resort. We booked on the $199 deal but upgraded to a Jacuzzi spa room which was lovely. The room was beautiful and clean with a huge bed which was very comfortable. Fresh fruit and bottled water were brought to our room each day. We initially had a problem with the water flow however after reporting it, we were informed that the water pump for the resort had broken and would be fixed ASAP, which it was promptly the next day. We had breakfast and lunch most days at the resort restaurant and the food was very nice with lots of variety in the breakfast buffet. We recommend the Tex Mex and the Mendolina Pizza if you wish to venture outside of the resort for dinner, however the couple of dinners we had in the resort restaurant were excellent.
We did have a presentation and tour with Michael and Richard, however the guys were wonderful, very friendly and approachable, and at no time did we feel pressured in any way. Unfortunately we are not in the position to be able to join at this time, however if we had been able to afford it we definitely would have considered it as the offer was very good with lots of great information. Maybe down the track we might look at it when our finances are in better shape. Even if you get nothing else out of it, you at least get a free breakfast or lunch which is worth it!
The resort pool is beautiful and the staff are exceptional. James and Mac at the bar are so helpful and friendly. Natty at reception is also lovely. We spent a lot of time sitting in the loungers around the pool just relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. The spa is wonderful and the treatments are fantastic with very professional staff who really know their stuff.
Probably our only gripe would be the old TV set in our room, with very bad reception, however we believe that all the rooms are being upgraded so this will probably not be an issue shortly. The only reason we even wanted to watch TV was because we had 2 1/2 days of dreadful weather before the sun finally came out. However reception does lend out DVD's so that solved our problem.
The shuttle bus to Nai Harn is a great idea and we took advantage of this a couple of times. The massages at the beach are terrific and only 400 baht for an hour.
The resort is a little isolated, in comparison to the more popular beaches, but its peaceful and tranquil with amazing views. If a relaxing peaceful holiday is what you are after then this resort is perfect. If you are a party animal then best off looking elsewhere.
Overall we had a fantastic stay at the Mangosteen and would like to thank Michael for being so very helpful and friendly to us, as well as Richard and all of the wonderful Thai staff. It was a pleasure and we loved our holiday with you.

Room Tip: We had room 302 which was nice but the views weren't as good as some of the other rooms. We had...

We had a lovely relaxing holiday at Mangosteen resort, set high on a hill away from the crowds & bustle of Phuket. Just what we were looking for. The staff were all friendly & very helpful - Michael took my husband to the bank on the back of his motor bike & Richard lent us money when we had run out of baht ! The villas were a little tired & out dated but they are in the middle of an upgrade. The soft breezes at night , accompanied by the lovely views gave this resort an edge in location. The on site Ayurveda Spa was a bonus ,as was the free consultation with the Indian doctor.

We had a wonderful stay!!! The room was incredible (VERY clean) and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had an awesome time! The special touches for our honeymoon is something we will remember forever! It was a once in a lifetime trip indeed!! Thank you to everyone at Mangosteen!!! We will be returning!

P.S. the food at the resort is great but if you want to venture out Brown Friend Rice and Moo Tex Mex are OUTSTANDING. Also, Modena Pizza was so good!
