Just completed a 10 day stay at the Thai Palace with my partner, I'll start with the positive feedback - The resort is well located in the beautiful and quiet Rawai beach, a short stroll from the several seafood restaurants that line the beachfront. Be advised that while Rawai beach is beautiful to look at it it's not really a swimming beach and is lined with fishing boats, for a decent swimming spot Nai Harn is a 5min drive and probably the nicest beach on the island in my opinion. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and have a real tropical vibe, there are 2 pools and while there is not a huge number of sun loungers we always managed to have somewhere to lie out if we were staying by the pool, also note most of the pool area is in the shade which is nice if you're not interested in tanning. The little French restaurant "La Croisette" where breakfast is served is quite pleasant, the breakfast options were very limited though (for the breakfast inc.option), eggs and bacon or pancakes from the menu or there's a buffet option with fruit salad, breads, etc and by day 10 were pretty sick of it. We did have dinner here one of the nights and the food was really good though so I would highly recommend to try the "non-included" menu. We booked a standard double room and while I was aware it would be basic the pictures on the advertising website definitely make it look better than the reality, our room was on the ground floor and quite dimly lit (a bit dingy looking to be honest), the water pressure in the shower was extremely poor, the "mattress" was the hardest I've ever slept on, we were both very sore after the first few nights from sleeping on it. We had some major issues with noise at night, there was a family staying right above us and the kids would run around screaming and shouting, dragging furniture until all hours, you can literally hear everything through the floors and walls, we complained the first night this occurred and the family was spoken to as far as we know, it happened again the following night and there was also people in the pool at 1am jumping in and making noise right outside our door, this was the second night of little sleep and we were both extremely frustrated, we went to the night porter who was too busy watching youtube at reception that he wasn't even aware of what was going on in the pool right behind him. The following morning we went back to reception to discuss these issues and the lady there kindly moved us to a double room in the newer part of the resort, while it was at the front of the hotel and away from the tropical gardens it was much cleaner, newer and quieter and we had no further issues with noise after this. One last point that left quite a sour taste in our mouths was when we booked a taxi to take us to the airport on the day we were departing, we paid 1000baht from the airport when we arrived but the resort advised that it would be 1200baht to book through them to get back to the airport, as we didn't have time to go looking for a taxi anywhere else we went ahead with this even though it was pretty clear the hotel is just making some extra cash from departing guests, not what you would hope for or expect as generally calling for a taxi is all part of the service and experience. Overall I wouldn't be rushing back here, we weren't made to feel like valuable guests at any stage really and the older part of the resort really needs some care and attention. The location is good, if you do decide to book here then spend a bit extra and go or the deluxe rooms in the newer section.

Room Tip: Don't expect a good night's sleep in the older part of the resort, spend a bit extra and upgrade or just go somewhere else for better value.

After our stay in Patong, this was a week for less noise, hustle and people. Our pick of Thai Palace Resort was perfect. A nice hotel, with lot of trees and flowers all around, squirrels jumping from tree to tree in the morning. Cute breakfast with buffet was included in the price. We took a room with private access to the pool, such a great decision turned out to be. The staff was professional and friendly. We took a motorbike for 7 eur a day! Best way to move around town. If you are looking for a smaller hotel away from crowds of people, this is definitely the right place.

We stayed here in low season, the rates were so reasonable and they offered even better rates to stay longer, which we did.

The breakfast is fresh and worth getting up for. The pool is in a beautiful setting and we were lucky to have it to ourselves most of the time.

We got a corner room on top floor, which i recommend as the balcony is massive and worth the room rate on its own.

Arrived at hotel and asked about scheduling transportation for departing. It was then explained to us that the shuttle was not free and that it would be a cost service. This was a little disappointing and the website is very misleading, as it does not specifically state the cost of transportation. The website should be clearly state the expectation and cost of such services! Customers should not be lead to believe something is of courtesy to guest when it is not. If we would have known we would have selected another hotel closer to the airport!

Just arrived and hopefully my opinion of the Resort will change, as we continue our stay..

Nice setting among the tropical flora and poolside location but the room just had a feeling of grubbiness without appearing dirty.
A few little things letting it down like the kettle not working, fridge having to cool down over time as the door key shuts off the power when you leave and air con struggling.
Felt a bit unsecure with the back door down an alley that could probably be pooped open with a screwdriver.
WARNING, be wary of the safe, I gave mine a little tug and pulled the bolts out of the wall, could have walked out the back door with it if I was robbing the place.
All the issues could be fixed with a little effort so 3/5 rating for now.
