The rooms were lovely and clean. Location was great for shopping. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Dining at night near the pool area was a wonderful way to end the day. The hotel had lots of families staying there and it wasn't noisy or over crowded at anytime.

We stay at Mercure Phuket Patong on last September 2012. Nice hotel, big lobby, nice room and great staff. The hotel location itself bit far from BangLa Road - the central of night life at Patong area, takes around 10 minutes by walking but that's no big issue since along the way to the BangLa Road there is a lot of souvenirs shop, restaurants, massage/spa treatment so it's not get bored.

Planning back to Phuket on next year and will stay again at Mercure Phuket Patong.

Room tip: Room with pool view would be nice

We liked the hotel itself . Service was better than average and the pool area and bar area was also well laid out . Our room was quite nice but for similar money we had a larger room and much better view in our Hotel in Koh Samui .
I think our travel agent mislead or at least misunderstood us when we said we wanted to be in a fairly happening area in Phuket . Patong is just to much - of everything ! If you are looking for a bit of piece and quiet I would recommend staying North of Patong on a beach like Camala .

Recommended by travel agent in Mandurah. Arrived mid afternoon, check - in good. Were told we had adjoining rooms (travelling with teenagers) but found there was a room between us. Smell of drains a total turnoff. Bathroom although clean was a disgrace owing to the shower cubile having mold and a continual buildup of silicone around the edges. Beds really comfy - king size for us and two king size singles for kids. Asked for extra pillows (only get one each) finally after 3 calls our prayers were answered. Breakfast good but the I guess after 8 days very boring. One waitress not very attentive during our whole stay. Pool very nice. Renos were being held during our stay but all in all ok.
Bitter end to our stay upon check out - querying some charges and asked for signed receipts - were obtained but virutally thrown to us. They apparently were missing an umbrella from the room as well.

All in all an average stay and would most probably not recommend Mercure.

Room tip: We were on second floor in the high 240's room numbers. Good location away from front of hotel and noise, but unfortuntely have the back street hotels and the bars open to past 4am

We (3 ladies and a 5-yr old boy) stayed at the hotel in early October. Checked-in was pretty efficient. However, when we opened the door to the assigned room, the foul and moudly smell of the room didn't seem to be what we were expecting. We prompty upgraded to a suite on the 6th floor by paying more. Suite was good, big space, bright and nice smelling. And so we thought our wonderful stay at the hotel would then begin. What a surprise awaiting us.

2nd day morning, we went to restarant around 9ish for breakfast. The lady staff (#1) at the entrance led us to a table near entrance. I didn't really like dimly lit places so I requested (to another staff) for a change in table, one that is further into the restaurant. And then, our woes began. The staff whom we approahed asked the LADY STAFF(#1) at entrance. And we were shown frowns and impatient looks by #1. Yes, we did get another table, but after being on receiving end of glares and frowns. I thought we could still stomach the horrible treatment. When we asked for coffee, we waited a long long long time (like 20 minutes). Ok fine, just a small issue, or so we thought.

3rd day morning, same LADY STAFF (#1) at entrance to restaurant. I flashed a bright smile at her and she glanced down with a stony face. Led us to table and left immediately. Fine. I thought. Should not let this staff bother me. My sister signalled to another lady staff (#2) for 3 coffee. Guess what? SHE (#2) asked her to make the coffee herself. My sister did, after fumbling with the coffee machine. And guess what? Lady staff #2 showed my sister faces and impatiently took over!

4th day morning, same thing happened at entrance. And again, bad service in restuarant by #2! Again I asked for my favourite table (resaurant was not crowded). She just waved her hand at another table and turned away!!!! We decided enough was enough and asked a male staff for the manager. The male staff turned out to be assitant manager and happened that manager went on leave. We spoke at length with the assistant manager. We also asked him to clarify if we should make our own coffee. Answer was a NO. The lady staff looked at us. Whispering and wondering what we were talking about.

After pouring our our grievances, we felt better. And I supposed the lady staff were spoken with? As they changed their attitude towards us. But too late and too bad. Damage done to a intolerable extent.

What we observed :
The lady staff seemed friendlier and eager to serve the male guests. Always smiling brightly at them.(Really! We observed for 3 days).

Will we be staying there again? Answer is a definite no. We did not expect marvellous service but neither did we expect such low standard service from the staff.

Room tip: Don't pick lower floors.. dark walkways and mouldy smell. Suite is great. And those rooms below the suite. Main door faces the moutains and some shorter buildings nearby so pretty well ventilated.
