Just been into Monsoon bar with my partner and been a victim of a scam.

Intially overcharged on first bill, when finally corrected to 300 baht (was very aggressive). Handed over 1000 which the waitress placed in a small pocket and proceeded to give us 200 change.
We queried the mistake as we only had 1000 notes on us at the time. At which point she threaten my female partner and started to slam her money on the table.
We decided to leave and were approached by a white guy, It seemed he was involved with the bar in some respect.
We mentioned the incident and asked for at least a refund for the drinks on the table. He took them but never returned with the refund.
Please avoid this bar at all costs, much better options on Bangla road.

Next time, at any venues you will visit, if something similar occurs do the real effective thing, ask to talk to a manager and make a formal complaint. It works better then bad reviews and won't affect the job of the other (40) people working there

Monsoon Bar staff viciously attacked a young British guy because he wanted his ‘free shot’ promised by a local Party Hostel Chain.

It was vile and quite hideous to see. I’ve recorded the event and the police refusing to investigate unless ‘ police are given 35,000 Baht.

This club is disgusting and dangerous!!!!!!

On top of this we saw rats in the Kitchen area!

Nice plays to enjoy live band music crooning some evergreen hits. Do not compare them with original tracks as they have their own unique way of singing which is appreciable. They have daily promotions like 69 baht a beer or 99 baht a beer if you land up early say before 10 p.m. All in all its a nice place to have a couple of drinks and shake some leg even if you have two left feet !! lol

My partner and i visted the bar as part of my birthday celebration. Music was great as they have a live band performances, great atmosphere but worst service experience by far. Drinks are expensive, waitresses are greedy and pushy. We were aggressively told to leave if dont order drinks mutiple times, by both the waiteresses as well as one of the hostesses, even after we had generously tipped them after each order and bought the one waitress a drink.
Not sure if this is the norm at Monsoon or on Bangla Road but an establishment with such a great vibe surely cannot be that desperate to make an extra buck.
Total put off! Definitely wont be back ot recommended. One should not be forced to order drinks in order to stay at a bar.
Level up guys... service standard is way behind the rest of the world!

Our drinks are at 190.- bahts our beers at 99.- and shots at 100.- Where do you come from to find that expensive? Talking about the rest of the world, don't go to touristic venues you will find prices extravagant. For the order a drink part, we are a private owned company not a public park where you can enjoy a show for free. Having drinks on a table is a normal behaviour when you go out in a pub, here and the rest of the world!

We were enticed in by coupons so we bought our first 2 drinks at 10:15 (We took pics when got our first drinks) We ordered second drinks at about 10:50 and shooters from there on. There's a cool guy walking around with syringe drinks. We bought 7 between 11pm and about 11:25. The lady waitress kept coming to us to place an order but we only ordered syringe as they are really good.... by about 11:30 another waitress told us to order drinks or leave. She called one of the ladies in blue from outside who also told us that "This is Thailand, drink or leave!" Awesome bar and band, just a pity I was left with the bitter taste of being told to leave. The waitress was also very pushy for us to buy her a drink. I suppose that's the Phuket nightlife.... Fortunately we were not hurt in any way like another review I read however we drink at our own pace to avoid stumbling around and to actually be awake to enjoy and take in the place. My suggestion, buy a coupon, have a beer and enjoy the vibe for a bit then leave onto the next bar.

I answered your friend, even you don't have the same story, read that answer. By the way giving bad reviews is not a hobby. We recommend painting by numbers, it will relax you. Giving 1 star after writing the band was awesome and the cool guy sold tasty sling... You need to relax and understand the giving star system and how it hurt business and people making a living there.
