Depends which room you are booked, it can get quite noisy...u may as well book in the heart of the Juncelyon mall area

Pro's:
* 10minute walking distance to Junceylon mall and Bangla road/surrounds
* Comfortable room accommodation (we were 3rd floor room 6000 range)
* front of hotel has direct access to street stalls and the back entrance takes you straight to the beach road across patong beach
* 4 pools to choose a swim
* tour assistance on site
* 24hr reception
* friendly staff always greeting and smiling

Cons:
* u have to pay for wifi 100baht for 30min
* the noise of the hard rock cafe became too much and a hotel directly opposite has an Elvis show each Friday night outside .. So its a battle of noises!
* the Saturday morning (17 nov) there was continious drilling noises from about 10am to into the afternoon, and there were no notices that this was going to be a disturbance
* breakfast was included but they don't cater for special meal requirements ie, Jewish, kosher, halaal etc
* in general staff were not good at basic English
* 1 of the 4 pools didn't look very clean along the edges, looked like a stained ring and the inner walls had green mould here and there

Don't think I'll ever rebook again with this hotel.

Ok but never again

Stayed here in June 2012. Very old and dated. Breakfast same same. Staff not very friendly and with very limited english. Room was small and in need of a facelift. In great position to acess the beach and Patong attractions. Need to lift their game !!

Great hotel

My partner and I stayed at the patong merlin in a superior pool view room. The room was spacious and comfortable, everything was clean and the service was very friendly! The pools are fantastic and the location is also great. You are close to everything you need!!! I would stay there again for sure!!

Magical place to stay abdolutely loved it highly recommend it.

Great place to stay location could not get any better weather,shopping,pool the bomb would not hesitate going to stay again and have recommended it to all my family and friends LOVED it .. The only criticism some of the staff need to get a personality I don't know if it was the language barrier or if they were just plain rude .. But don't let that stop you from staying there :)))

Always enjoyable!

We have stayed at the Patong Merlin about 8 times over the past 12 years.
Always found the service great. We had issues with our room one year and it was rectified to our satisfaction and we have always been welcomed back with open arms and our room requests have always tried to be met.
Love the breakfast on offer. Something to suit everyone.
Enjoyed the option of a few pools - the kids like going pool hopping!
Free shuttle over to Merlin Beach.
