The OTOP markets are run by Thai people and all profit goes back to the Thai people instead of leaving the country. The stall holders are great to deal with, very friendly and up for a bit of bargaining! Also lots of little bars dotted around to leave your other half at so you can shop in peace.

Is low season here at the present time and you could tell from the foot traffic.

The markets have lots of stalls. .. much of the same stuff in all the aisles... so go through a few thoroughly and you'll knock it over in 90 mins.
Lots of tshirts.. ornaments. .. tattoo parlours.. you get over it pretty soon enough.
Worth a quick walk through as a starting point to your night add you make your way to Bangla Rd.. which is 20 minutes casual walk away.

Highly recommended place to visit if your in Patong.
You will save yourself some money if you get off the main streets and head to places like OTOP markets.
Easily accessible as all taxi/tuk-tuk operators know where it is.
Most stall holder at OTOP are selling the same stuff you will find everywhere else in Phuket but you may see something a bit different.
It's generally quieter and less stressful to walk around here.
The paths are fairly good for people with small children and prams.
Most shops here are operated by Nepalese nationals. They are not Thai but most speak many languages and are friendly.
You can get a really good go at bartering here if your a bit nervous.
There are also plenty of places to stop for a light snack or drink at any of the bars. Also know as round bars. You could spend the day sitting at the round bar playing connect 4, Jenga, nail game with the bar girls or friends and watch the world go bye while having a few drinks.

Definitely good value for money here as the average tourist generally stick to the main Beach road or hang around the Soi's near Jungcelon.
OTOP is located on Rat-U-Thit road opposite the Hard Rock Cafe and The Holiday Inn.
