Loved Bangla Suite

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Sept 2011
We stayed at Bangla Suite for a week in an Executive Suite overlooking Bangla Rd. Was a bit dubious about the noise coming in (We arrived at 11.00 pm to the noise of the street at its worst) But the windows blocked out most of the noise, except the loud music from the Absolute Bar on the corner of Bangla Rd. strange that Absolute run the bar but do nothing about the noise volume for their guests.
The suite had king size bed in bedroom with spacious ensuite bathroom. There are dark block out curtains which keep out the morning light and balcony lights. Lovely balcony overlooking the laneway to Bangla Rd where you can sit at anytime of the day or night and watch all the people walking up and down Bangla rd (about 70 metres away). Large jacuzzi spa on the balcony (we didn''t use it but would be a nice spot to watch life go by, but can be seen by anyone walking up the lane way toward the resort).
The lounge/kitchen area was very spacious too with great well appointed kitchen , dining table for 4. Lounge with comfy corner settee, samsung flat screen TV and dvd player (same in the bedroom) . Only problem was the quality of tv reception on Aussie channel.
So really the room was excellent. If you are going to use the kitchen they don't supply dishwashing liquid or t-towel, so we left our breakfast dishes, and housekeeping did them in the morning) Who wants to cook anyhow?
The breakfast on the 5th floor restaurant was fresh and sufficent with fresh cooked eggs etc, fresh fruit and juice. Only 150 bht which is comparible to what you pay down the street.
Lovely pool and spa on 5th floor too with lounges and bar close by. Good if you don't fancy going to the beach.
Beach towels supplied in the room in carry bag (very good idea)
Umbrellas supplied in the room (greatly needed while we were there).
Don't come to Patong though if you don't want to be hassled by all the touts on Bangla road and surrounds. You just have to get used to them everywhere you go and learn to so "NO" politely (if possible). It is the way they live and make a living so get used to it. They have to put up with us bartering for a cheap price so take the good with the bad.
Be prepared to be scouted by the Absolute "crew" as they are out on the streets. We just said no as we are already timeshare owners and know about the experiences both good and bad.
The rooms have great airconditioning. we got an extra keycard and left it in the room so the aircon stayed on all day. great to come home to as the rooms getting stuffy during the day.
Enjoy the resort though, we did.
Date of stay: August 2011
Room Tip: the front rooms have a view towards Bangla rd but with this comes the noise. we had a balcony suite

We stayed at Bangla suites from the 6/8/11 until 20/8/11 in a 1 bedroom condo. My sister and her husband also stayed in the same suite. The suite had a 1 bedroom king bed, a very large bathroom with spa and a kitchen, dining table and l-shaped sofa. The hotel were fantastic and we had 2 single beds set up as a double for them in this area as it is quite large. Whilst we were in the thick of Patong Beach night life the hotel was at the end of a laneway and we never had any issue with noise. The room was luxurious. The hotel restaurant on the 5th floor "Climax" was 5 star and an open air restaurant. The meals were superb and the cocktails and beer were flowing. The pool was next to the restaurant, refreshing. Any issues we had over the 2 weeks were dealt with professionally and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Very comfortable but absolutely close to the action, I loved this hotel. The room was brilliant with a comfortable bed, full kitchen, spa pool, LCD TV and even a stereo system for my iPad! Great internet connectivity as well which made me feel connected to work and home while only metres away from Bangla Street. The only thing I would recommend is a Thai choice or 2 for the buffet breakfast. I don't travel halfway around the world to have cereal for breakfast, although the Thai fruits were delicious and the chef cooks a mean omlette.

I stayed at Bangla Suites in Aug 2011 for 4 nights in a studio appartment. It had excellent quality fittings with a big screen Sumsung TV with many channels (although covers a lot of languages so not many channels if you are are a one language speaker), DVD player, docking station for ipod. Big king size bed. Plenty of kitchen equipment if you want to cook. There is a small dining table for two.

Bathroom is screened off by a huge sliding glass door (normally it would be a balcony) there is a curtain that needs to be closed for privacy. There is a jacuzzi in the bathroom which I did not use it but it does look very inviting. A few little annoying things about the bathroom:
1. it does not have enough hooks or rails for hanging towels,
2. lighting is not very bright,
3. there is not enough area around the sink to put all your bits and pieces (for a single guy it was ok but for a couple there may not be enough space).

The walls of the room are a bit thin to both the outside corridor and the room next door, but not enough to cause any concern.

The pool is on the 5th (top) floor, large enough to have a relaxing swim, then laze on one of the deck chairs. There is a restaurant on that floor, serves breakfast too which looked delicious enough but I did not partake (I must remember to get breakfast included in my deal next time).

Location of Bangla Suites is very good, down a little Soi (street) off Soi Bangla, only 5 mins walk to the beach (very warm water) in one direction and 5 mins the other direction to the huge Jungceylon shopping centre (which is well worth visiting).
At night once you walk out to the end of the little Soi you are smack bang in the middle of a kaleidescope of nightlife (some on the seedy side). Soi Bangla is closed to traffic after 6pm so there is an array of people walking the street. Plenty of bars, eating places, and other establishments to choose from. If you are not into that side of life you may choose to avoid it if you can. My room was on the second floor, noise from all the music was not really a problem.

Staff were always smiling and happy, always willing to help, and spoke English very well.

Overall, excellent quality room and location. I would have liked a balcony to sit and watch the world go by or read a good book, but hey I wasn't in the room much anyway.

Room tip: Try to get a room not facing the street, I believe the other side faces some gardens

As this hotel was just off the main road that is the centre of Patong night life (Bangla Road) - we thought it may be noisy and a little sleezy.......and it wasnt at all. Our room was on a lower floor and was very quiet. The room was well appointed and the breakfast on the roof top was excellent. The room is fully self contained and local supermarkets are nearby if you want to eat in - but why would you when the local food is so cheap and so good!! Only problem we had with the room was the bathroom door - it is mostly see through glass and a bit off-putting when you needed a little privacy. Our son stayed on a foldout bed in the lounge - so when the loo was in use - the main bedroom door had to be locked.......but that was the only downfall of our weeks stay.

Room tip: Low floor rooms = no noise
