Everything about Oriental Kwai was outstanding!!! We could have easily just stayed there the whole time without venturing out. The service, the food, the prices, the tranquility, the cleanliness, and the location - we will 100% be back again and again!
We keep on coming back to this little chunk of paradise. This is a small resort, run by the delightful Djo and Evelien, and the most wonderful staff that one could hope to meet. Sorry... but there are lots of superlatives to follow...
Arrival is like being immersed in a warm fragrant bath. The face towel, the drink and a haze of beautifully tended garden that you only truly appreciate by slowly walking back to your cottage after a fulfilling and imaginatively prepared breakfast. The cottages; each one framed in a wealth of oriental bushes, trees and flowers. Each one with a verandah, a spacious en-suite room (tastefully furnished to compliment the surroundings), and a large and comfortable bed that only the prospect of the awaiting sumptuous breakfast will make you get up.
I have written reviews about this resort in the past, and whenever we return it's like coming back to an old friend. Everything about this place shouts; Holiday, Relax, Enjoy! I love what Kanchanaburi has to offer us tourists, but I could not enjoy it nearly as much without this little chunk of paradise.
We arrived here directly from our flight from the UK and spent four lovely days acclimatising and sorting out the jet lag. The Oriental Kwai was the absolutely perfect place to do this. All the staff were wonderful, the garden was pristine and delightful and we had a beautiful room.
I would recommend this fabulous hotel to everyone.
Sadly, two nights was not long enough to enjoy everything this lovely boutique Hotel had to offer. It felt so welcoming, with an efficient personal service and lovely staff. Also an extra couple of nights would have meant a more relaxed opportunity to enjoy more of what the region had to offer, so my advice would be to stay longer than we did! We had already planned a couple of tours but the Hotel also has lots of suggestions and can facilitate locally for you. Thank you to Evelien and Djo - we will definitely be recommending on to others.
This is a must if you going to Thailand and the Kanchanaburi area. Idealic setting, staff amazing and food is pretty good too. If you want a relaxing break then head here. Wonderfully set out and decor is amazing. Suggest you ask for river view cottage as that has best views. Immaculate throughout with everything you need. Helps if you have car but staff happy to arrange taxi etc.
