There is nothing better than planning a trip for family and the chosen accomodation far exceeds your expectations. This is the case with this absolutely wonderful resort.
It is meticulously clean, BEAUTIFULLY landscaped, incredible customer service and without a doubt one of the finest management and aesthetically gorgeous exteriors I have seen in over 10+ years of travel and living in S.E. Asia. The bungalows are impeccably clean, simple with traditional Thai furnishings and crystal clear floor to ceiling glass doors and windows. The bathrooms have a rustic stone and bamboo element and each bungalow has wonderful accent lighting for an evening glow.
The couple who run the resort are genuine, kind, helpful and refreshingly take great pride in their stellar resort. The waitstaff, cleaning staff and ground staff are also exceedingly friendly and service oriented.
I cannot wait to return to this resort again as the peacefully beautiful surroundings and pleasing comfort of the bungalows will stay with you long after you leave.

Room Tip: The river front room is beautiful. However all rooms are well spaced and I believe provide the same...

Although a few miles out of Kanchanaburi, the Oriental Kwai is well worth the wait. Small boutique and very friendly. Owners were great and happy to chat.
The bedrooms are good, well designed and with nice touches. The electric shower wasnt the best but it worked. The restaurant was excellent, service very attentive, food was fantastic, the only disappointment was having to move under cover due to a torential downpour and dramatic thunderstorm.
Breakfast in the open air overlooking the river was v.memorable, although I wouldnt recommend the 'spicy thai rice' breakfast for an 8 year old!
Our only disappointment was that we only stayed one night - a couple more would have been great. The pool looked inviting but we didnt have time to enjoy it as we had to leave.
Grounds were lovely and I'd have loved to have sat doen by the river watching it flow quickly past for a few hours while drinking a singha - that'll have to wait until next time. As will the full day with the nearby elephants.

My family and I (wife and 4 kids) stayed here for two nights. We got a great family room at a great price. The resort is away from everything so you need a taxi to get anywhere. The restuarant is good and the owners are great. Besides the owners the staff did not speak much English. I found that surprising considering most of the guests are Westerners. But the owners are never far away and it was never a real problem.

The resort is beautiful and the pool is great. We very much enjoyed our stay here.

First of all the owners are very helpful, from organising transfers to and from Bangkok airport, to recommendations and answering emails etc. All the staff are also really friendly and professional. We arrived during a thunder storm and we felt very welcomed, and the staff were very efficient in getting us inside with umbrellas etc. Also they kept the restaurant open for us as we arrived later than planned due to traffic from Bangkok.

Room - The room / bungalows are spacious clean and well appointed, the bathroom was also of a great standard, lovely clean towels etc. Nice balconies to sit out on, with mosqiuto coils provided.

Grounds / Pool - The pool is lovely with a few comfy sun beds, never too busy, you can have your drinks around it too. There is a great toilet and changing block next to the pool. The gardens are lovely with lots of beautiful orchids and plants, a few little fish ponds too.

Restaurant - The staff are very attentive, the menu was lovely and we enjoyed all the food we tried. The breakfast choice was good too. Lovely view onto the river from the terrace and nice lighting in the evening.

Overall a great 3 night stay, just what we needed at the beginning of our trip and after our long haul flight over.

My friends and I enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay. Having stayed here 4 years ago, it was an easy choice to return to this hotel. We combined the stay with a spa visit at Suan Nanachaat which is a perfect combination. The rooms are as welcoming as they were 4 years ago. During a rain storm, umbrellas were delivered to each cottage - this was a lovely touch. There was a good choice of breakfast options and we enjoyed some delcious Thai and Western dishes at the restaurant. We will definitely be returning :-)
