This is our second stay here at Wangcome Hotel it is old however has plenty of character. We had been fortunate enough to have the same room we stayed in during our last visit, Grand Deluxe. The check-in staff at reception area are very polite and efficient, along with the housekeeping. The disappointing area of this hotel is the breakfast, some of the food its re-vamped from the day before, not fresh at all. We found the breakfast staff so unprofessional. We would arrive each morning for breakfast approximately 9am-9-15 am. Around 9.30am the staff started cleaning up and setting tables for the lunch guest, we found this very annoying with the dragging of chairs along with setting up tables. I also noticed one of the staff dropped some of the cutlery on the floor, this was immediately put back onto the table without replacing or washed.

The small restaurant incorporated in the side of the hotel is quaint in which you can have lunch, along with dinner at a very reasonable price. Once again one of staff very unprofessional. We turned the television on for a brief moment we were then told this is not allowed? The four days of our stay we did not eat there because of the rudeness of that particular person. This incident was reported by me to the front desk, they apologized for this person.

Location, the hotel is good, close to the night markets 5mins walk, also close to some of the night bars 1minute walk. I would recommend this hotel for cleanliest and location along with plenty of character.

Room Tip: Maybe the 5th Floor

A dated hotel with elegance. Nice room with a view. Clean with new towels. They charged me 1600 baht or $47.00 U.S. this is a little pricey but OK. Free good buffet breakfast. The staff where very professional and spoke good English. I slept well .

We spent a night here for old time's sake. I stayed here for several months many years ago (it feels like many years, anyway!), and I was very comfortable and felt well-looked-after. Amazingly, little has changed. The rooms are smaller than is fashionable now, but they're well-designed with nice Lanna touches, and very cosy. The service is excellent, and the Thai food in the restaurants is of a high standard. Though it's been here for a long time, I think it's the best downtown hotel in Chiang Rai.

In addition to other member of Medical Team-we are staying after 3-5 days in Myanmar village and Chiang Mai. The furnishings are standard, the entry way and lobby are modern and impressive marble, the breakfast buffet is adequate, nice pool surrounded by concrete walls and concrete decking, staff was very helpful. Yes there are only 2 outlets for electricity-1 directly behind the TV and the other in the bathroom on a wall approx 5 feet off the ground next to the commode. Free wifi was terrible most of the time in the rooms-ok at best in the late late evening or very early in the morning. Wifi thru out hotel was similar.

Stayed three nights in Wangcome Hotel, Chiang Rai. It is clean but rather dated. My room's window is facing a street with a pub which is very noisy every night until the mid night. You could hear the music and also people shouting. If you are a light sleeper, you better change your room otherwise you'll have problem sleeping. No doubt the location of the hotel is good. 7/11, restaurant, night market are within walking distance. Please be extra careful when you step into the bathtub because of the poor design. There are ants in the toilet too. Breakfast is just so so and did not replenish quick enough when there's big crowd. If you are on business trip, be prepare that no iron provided and you have to send your clothes to laundry for ironing.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor that window not facing pub if you are light sleeper
