Having visited this village on numerous occasions over the past few years, I always hold my breathe when we go back hoping that this restaurant is still open and that the food is still as good as ever. I am pleased to report that it is both open and indeed providing excellent food at a very good price. The shrimps in garlic sauce is one of my favourite meals anywhere in Thailand and whilst it can be eaten as a main course, I love to have it as a starter, usually followed by the Massaman curry with rice. I have yet to be disappointed and this year was no exception. My wife loves the chicken fried rice and also the Chicken cashew nuts and they do some wicked smoothies.
The staff are very efficient and helpful and the young Thai owner Wasadee is a delightful young lady who goes out of her way to ensure you enjoy your meal. We wanted to try as many eating places in the village as possible during our stay, but the Mermaid and Harrys Bar were the two places that just kept drawing us back time after time.
