Having visited this village on numerous occasions over the past few years, I always hold my breathe when we go back hoping that this restaurant is still open and that the food is still as good as ever. I am pleased to report that it is both open and indeed providing excellent food at a very good price. The shrimps in garlic sauce is one of my favourite meals anywhere in Thailand and whilst it can be eaten as a main course, I love to have it as a starter, usually followed by the Massaman curry with rice. I have yet to be disappointed and this year was no exception. My wife loves the chicken fried rice and also the Chicken cashew nuts and they do some wicked smoothies.

The staff are very efficient and helpful and the young Thai owner Wasadee is a delightful young lady who goes out of her way to ensure you enjoy your meal. We wanted to try as many eating places in the village as possible during our stay, but the Mermaid and Harrys Bar were the two places that just kept drawing us back time after time.

We ate her several times during our stay. The service was very friendly and prompt. The Thai lady who owned the restaurant always came to chat with you and was willing to offer advice relating to ,places to visit if you wanted to know.
The selection of food is varied and we can certainly recommend the "Deep fried prawns in batter with chilli sauce" Huge prawns wih a very light batter which we had on every visit
Excellent value for money

The mermaid has an extensive menu with a good variety of Thai and European food available. The staff are friendly and helpful. The chefs are really good and produce tasty hot food night after night.
We were going to try other restaurants, but after the first meal there we decided to make it our restaurant of choice as we felt nowhere else could possibly do better. We were in Thailand for a month and ate there all but three evenings and enjoyed every meal. We had no problems with incorrect orders and no mistakes were made on our bills.
We have holidayed in Thailand for many years and can truly say this is the best food we have had.
If you are staying at the Regent Chalets, Regent Hotel it's the first restaurant on LHS as you enter the village or from the Novotel turn right and it's the last restaurant on RHS. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

The food was fine but in no way out of the ordinary. The service was good and the staff were lovely. Overall we were looking forward to eating there and although not disappointed we were not blown away either.Prices were average.

Seafood was very good and fresh. Their strengths seem to be Thai food and seafood in general. It's low season but we were the only ones in the restaurant, which was odd for a Friday night.
