I have been to this lovely restaurant for the last 4 years. The food is excellent and the place has a collection antiek,s clock,c etz.. Best place in town, to a low price ... the menu has everything to offer. International food and Thai food. The place has people the whole day, never had food there alone, best known in cha am.

We ate at Aroy a few times, both lunch and dinner, and generally enjoyed the food. The problem was the service varied from pleasantly efficient to downright sloppy. One evening it took ages to get someone to take our order, then one main course arrived and we were left waiting to the other. I could see it come out of the kitchen (served in a pineapple so easy to spot) but was then put on one side whilst the waiter went off to do something else. It was a busier night but nothing that a good team couldn't cope with.
Worth a try, just avoid busy periods.

My Thai companion and I arrived to find a busy restaurant. Always nice to see that...!

We were ushered to our table and the menu arrived soon after. Fortunately we can make our wishes known in Thai and a drink arrived soon after. And from there everything went downhill. I ordered a spicy Thai seafood spaghetti which was average at best... to find an elastic band in it... hmm.

Next to our table were three people from Norway. Poor people waited for over 30 minutes before even a person (whom we - table next to them - asked to please go to that table). They received their drinks, placed their food order. An hour later the wrong food came out... in bits. They food was taken back and another 40 minutes later one of the meals arrived... incomplete.

By now the Norwegians decided to cancel their order... paid for the drinks and left.

And on our way out I overheard other people complaining as well about quality and/or slow service.

We have been to this restaurant on 3 occasions and it has been fairly full by about 7.00pm. Majority (not all) of the staff are very miserable and cannot speak English. There is no such thing as " service with a smile " at this place. One of the waitress is very rude ans it seems that she does not want to be working there. Once we waited for 30mins for our drinks order to be taken. The beer although cheap at 60 bhat for a large bottle is not chilled and that is really annoying as it does not taste the same with ice. The food arrives quite quickly once you manage to get your order in. As we are vegeterians it was quite difficult to communicate with the staff our our requirements, although we did manage on each occasion as we asked for a waitress who spoke a little English. The food prices are cheap and it is tasty. We did not try any meat dishes so cannot comment. They should name this place the Clock museum due to so many clocks on the walls chiming away. A nice decor restaurant which could do with some hospitality training for the waiting staff. Unfortunately, the staff spoil the potential for this establishment, although, having said that the owner is probably not concerned as he has a full restaurant every day. Will visit again.

We were recommended by a friend, who actually lives in Cha Am, and who joined us on this night.
When we arrived the restaurant was pretty full, but after we were seated the place started to empty slowly.
We had to ask for our table to be cleaned, and even then the girl only gave it a circular wipe and moved on. We watched as the guy on the table behind us tried to explain that he had been given the wrong dessert, this was taken away only to be replaced by a second wrong item, after the third he gave up, paid up and left. In all this time the 5 of us had still not been asked for our order. Eventually we made our order, only to be nervously laughed at, when the crab and another main dish were finished. The rice arrived at the table, and we waited and waited, and waited some more, for the accompanying dishes, nothing. Two of our party were Thai, and they asked that the cold rice be taken back to the kitchen, in order that fresh rice could be served when the rest of the mains arrived. They told us that the waitress seemed put out by this request, and when she returned with the re-heated rice it was put onto the table with a sarcastic " its hot now" comment. We thought the food was OK, although the Thai girls disagreed. We won't be going back, and neither will our friend that lives there, as he was late for a meeting due to the slow service.
