We stayed at the Moracea for 4 nights at the end of our travels through Thailand and it was a perfect way to relax after so much sightseeing. We had a Hibiscus Grand deluxe room with pool access, which was a real treat. The beds were really comfortable, there were extra beach towels and complimentary water every day, and a lovely veranda by the pool for relaxing or drying clothes. The sandy beach is perfect access for swimming or snorkelling and the grounds are well looked after. Yes, there are a few hills to walk up - but what a perfect way to build up an appetite for breakfast or dinner. The food is very good, better than any resort I have stayed in before - and should you decide to try dinner further afield then town is a pleasant 15-20 minutes walk. And the happy hour cocktails at the butterfly bar are delicious. All in all a perfect stay.

Many thanks for your recent feedback on "Moracea by Khaolak Resort".

All of us here are very happy and thrilled that you are very satisfied with our resort. At Morecea, we try our best to ensure all our guest have a quiet, peaceful and enjoyable stay. The room you stayed and surrounding area are decorated in the modern Chino-Thai style architecture. It is meant to blend in with the natural tropical forest atmosphere that surrounds a large part of the resort. We are therefore very satisfied with your happy experience here with us.

We stayed at The Moracea from the 15th-29th March and could not have been happier we were given room 233 which was lovely the decor was modern Thai and was kept clean and tidy by the cleaning team . It’s a central location to all the other amenities which the hotel has to offer.
The restaurant and Cocos where we ate most of our meals was great the serving staff were polite and friendly and couldn’t do enough for you as a guest. The food was cooked to perfection and the tastes were out of this world (definitely have the vegetable fried rice it’s amazing!) When we were not off sightseeing we were lazing by the beach which again is kept clean and the sea this time of year is like a bath beautifully warm. All in all a wonderful stay

The Moracea hotel is beautiful. The setting right on the beach with the natural national forest in the background is stunning. The hotel has lovely gardens and the environment is very peaceful and relaxing. Worth mentioning the beach is clean and there are no jet ski’s allowed - a really peaceful environment. The hotel is located a short distance from Khao Lak but taxis are available at the entrance and are relatively cheap, it is also possible walk along the beach to Khao Lak as well.

The bungalow was very spacious, well-equipped and really clean/well maintained – the staff really go out of their way to help. Worth mentioning the bed was really big and very comfortable and the bed linen was changed regularly.

The staff are really lovely, they are very polite, friendly and helpful - we asked for more water bottles and these were delivered within an hour of our request and daily thereafter. Breakfast was buffet style with an excellent variety of dishes including Asian and Western dishes.

We went on two tours, the first was to a local temple (Wat Lam Phi) which is about 25 Km south of Khao Lak and a turtle farm (Royal Thai Navy Third Fleet Turtle Nursery located along Thai Muang Beach in Phang-nga Province which is about 30 Km south of Khao Lak) where they rear turtles for release back into the wild. The second tour was to the Elephant Retirement Park Phang Nga where they take in young and older elephants from logging sites and give them a peaceful lifestyle. This was a truly amazing experience that includes feeding, bathing, playing and observing the elephants in their natural habitat, the elephants are well cared for and were clearly very happy! Worth mentioning there is no elephant riding, painting or tricks here - you just ‘bond’ with them! We went on the full day tour, the park collected and returned us to the hotel and looked after us the whole time we were at the park. As part of the one day tour you get to prepare your own Thai meal for lunch - yummy!!

Worth mentioning the Moracea is at the top of a steep hill so can be challenging for anyone with disabilities and the elderly. We used the hotel transfer facility for our trip from the airport but found this to be expensive - for our airport return we found a much cheaper operator on the Internet.

We stayed for a week 17th March to the 24th with friends to celebrate my husbands 50th Birthday. The Moracea location is perfect for all Khao Lak has to offer and the beachfront is unspoilt and idyllic. Our jasmine superior room was spacious and our bed was extremely comfortable - we just requested a couple of extra pillows from reception. The air conditioning was very efficient and a must, there was also a free safe in wardrobe, water in the fridge which was restocked daily and toiletries in the bathroom, also brollies and torches and flip flops, and bath robes. We stayed Bed and Breakfast and would recommend instead of All Inclusive. The breakfast was varied and plentiful and a really relaxing experience over looking the beach. The Thai omelette was my particular favourite. We didn't use the hotel spa but walked along the beach where their are plenty of Thai massages on offer for around 300TB. The walk to the town is literally 10 minutes with lots of lovely restaurants our favourite was Phu Khaolak restaurant where we paid about £10 a head for 2 courses and a beer. We also loved the Dreams Bar for cocktails which were only 99TB, this was usually our last stop of the evening and they would arrange a taxi back to the hotel which was only 100TB. We hired mopeds (cheaper to hire in the town) one of the days and travelled to the 'White Sands Beach' which is only 20 mins away and the local waterfall which was beautiful. Also make sure you visit the local market to try the street food and buy your souvenirs it is on 4 nights a week, it is too far to walk but only 200TB for a taxi. We would recommend the 2 trips we did James Bond Island which was great fun, and included the floating restaurants and being in a canoe to get in the middle of some of the islands you visit, a great way to get your tan topped up ! We also did the bamboo rafting trip, which included bathing an elephant visiting the turtle sanctuary and the Tsunami memorial and the Buddhist cave with the monkeys, both trips included lunch and were amazing we also bartered hard on the price and payed 50% of the listed price. To sum up our stay Khao Lak as a resort has lots to offer and the Moracea was idyllic with lovely friendly staff set in a perfect beach location, but there are lots of steps so definitely not for those with mobility issues. Mozi's are around especially early morning and late evening so come prepared with spray and bands and you will be fine, we only got bitten a couple of times. I would rate this hotel as 4.5 stars. Will we return ? Definitely :-)

Pest control procedure is done on a monthly basis as this is the normal time interval. We avoid the use of hazardous chemicals and this can result in a less efficient manner in controlling the mosquito within the resort. We recommend all guest to keep the room door close all the time.

We hope that you will make a return visit and it will be my great pleasure to welcome you back in the near future.

Thank you again for choosing Moracea!

Three of us in or early 70s and one nearly there arrived on 1st March after an hour and half delay by Thomson. This meant we arrived in the daylight and in time for breakfast. We were upgraded to an hibiscus room from a jasmine. These were lovely rooms but right at the top of the resort and walking up after being on the beach or at lunch and dinner was a challenge! Tried the steps but whilst great going down, uphill was a different story. The staff here make the holiday a good one. They were friendly, attentive and their English was pretty good. We never had a problem with any of them.
All the pools were lovely and very welcome relief from the heat. The beach is also good, quite shallow, but there is a problem with the sun beds being reserved even though there are notices saying do not reserve. We sat on the beach one day and four beds had towels on all day with no one turning up at all.
My one gripe was that as we were on all inclusive, we were given a separate lunch and dinner menu which didn't alter the whole 2 weeks. By the beginning of the 2nd week were finding it difficult to find something we hadn't already eaten. Indeed my lunch was mainly chicken satay, which was delicious, and a couple of other dishes. It got quite boring after a while. We found the drinks menu ok and on looking at the prices they were charging, we were glad to be on AI.
We had one problem with being served dinner. Four of us ordered but only 3 got food. They said they didn't know what had happened, then changed their minds and said one of us hadn't ordered a meal. The fourth meal turned up after 3 of us had finished our meals., with no apology at all. There seemed to be different staff on in the evenings and, I am sure, this would not have happened had it been the daytime staff.
Overall the hotel is good, a pleasant "jungly" complex, rooms good but as has been mentioned many times......no drawer space! Quite annoying living out of the suitcase.
We had a couple of evenings with rain and, again as has mentioned, there is nowhere to go and have a drink. We had to go to the beach bar where we stood under the little bit of protection they had, whilst our feet ended up in an inch or two of rain, not particularly pleasant. We did ask if we could go up into the wine bar, which was an air conditioned room. We were told that we could but no one was serving, so a waste of time, it was an extremely soulless place.
Don't let any of this put you off, you will have a good time. Just be aware of the little niggles that over a fortnight can begin to grate on you.

Dear Khun Travelling2ross,

Many thanks for your recent feedback on "Moracea by Khaolak Resort". At Morecea, we try our best to ensure all our guest have a quiet, peaceful and enjoyable stay. Thank you also for your satisfaction with our room, facility, and staff service.

The All-Inclusive (AI) menus include a wide range of Thai and Western cuisine and include appetizers, main dishes and desserts. A total of 45 such items for lunch and 60 for dinner are available for our AI guests. We also have an additional 6 set courses to choose from for dinner. In my opinion, that is quite a variety available and it would be a matter of selecting the right combination to ensure that you do not repeat a dish too often.

On the matter of sunbed reservation, we would like to emphasize that we don’t support or promote our guests to reserve sunbeds with their towels or personal belongings. This is a matter that is very difficult for us to implement in practice. So far we have not been very successful but we will keep on trying to find a solution that will be beneficial to both the resort and our guests. For now, we can only request our guests for co-operation on this issue of not reserving their piece of sunbed.

We apologize for the problems you encountered during dinner time as they appear to be concerned mainly with miscommunication. The Wine Bar is open from 18.00 - 23.00, and available to all guest, but, not include AI service. This was the information that staff try to communicate, again we apologize for unclear communication.

We thank you for both your positive and negative comments about Moracea as I am sure they will help us improve ourselves. We take all comments seriously and will always give consideration to such feedbacks and try, where possible, to make the required improvements.

We also hope that you will make a return visit to Moracea and perhaps see if we have, in your opinion, made some progress from your recent stay here with us.

Warmest regards,

Ekarach I.
