Great hotel with an incredible view on the the sea and the beach
Many restaurants, the rooms are nice and the staff is really lovely
Be careful of the location of the site : the hotel is far away from Kao Lak center

The hotel was fantastic, the staff are lovely, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was a little repetitive but there was always something available for everyones tastes, the food was always well cooked too. The drinks on the all inclusive side are ok. If you drank in the beach bar you had to pay.The beach is stunning, the sea is like a warm bath. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and cleaned daily. Would I go back? Of course I would, beautiful place, lovely people and so relaxing. Thank you Apsara.

Stayed here for 2 weeks and I was lucky enough to see both sides of this amazing resort!
First the hotel side - I loved how amazing each and every member of staff was. You could not fault it! A constant smile on everyone’s faces, always eager to help make your stay special!
Room was lovely, really didn’t need to upgrade to the pool villa but after reading reviews and the price we were offered decided to go for it, but we really could not fault the room. Only little thing was one day the cleaner forgot to do our room, we were in 303, and it’s alone on the resort, so I just think the 3 rooms were missed! Quick call to reception and it was soon rectified!
Buffet restaurant can’t really fault it, loads of western food and also great to be able to try a bit of Thai cuisine for those who haven’t thought to try it before coming to Thailand!
Pool was also lovely, always space to sit, as with everywhere there are people who reserve the beds, I just really don’t see the point as there was always loads of space for the later risers!
Great choice of all inclusive drinks! Oh and I really don’t understand everyone’s moans that you can only get drinks from one bar!! There are 2 available for those all inclusive people and they are right by the pool :) so perfect location!

We paid to upgrade to a pool villa. Very reasonable price and totally worth it! It was amazing! Total paradise! Absolutely everything was perfect!! I thought the room side was great until I went to the villa side! Really thought there was no way they could improve on perfection but they did! If you get the chance it is well worth it!
Get to eat in the horizon restaurant everyday, food is lush, and the pizza’s are a must try!
Only word of warning is the villas do get some little visitors! We had house geckos in the room, only tiny and didn’t bother us, we just turned on the shower light (which is outside) and they went towards the light!

Feedback to the hotel would be to rotate the staff! Some of the hotel side staff really did outshine the villa side staff and would further improve the villa side! I think some of the villa side staff are a little stuck up! (Not sure if that’s the right wording) The guy on the horizon bar is slow and rude, never acknowledges anyone, but the bar staff on the hotel side are always smiling and quick to acknowledge! Also the restaurant staff, some on the hotel side are much better than the villa side!
Also I would also just say to the hotel, something very simple to change, if staff are not trained to do something, it’s fine, but they should still acknowledge customers, quick nod and point, we will understand and then we are more than happy to wait (it was never long) but when you are ignored and they avoid eye contact and they are just 2 foot away it looks a little rude!

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic two week holiday at the Apsara Beachfront Resort and Villa. This was our first visit to Thailand and we thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely return. This hotel is in an amazing location, right on the beautiful Bang Niang beach, looking out over the Andaman Sea. Absolutely stunning. The hotel itself is great, but could be awesome with a few tiny improvements.
After a loooong journey from the UK and a two hour transfer we arrived at the hotel around 8am. All you want to do after this amount of time is get to your room and have a shower etc, but our room was not ready. Talking to others, this seems pretty standard but in my book, not acceptable. The staff were perfectly polite and welcoming but it's not as if our arrival was a surprise. After about an hour waiting, we were shown to our room, which was fabulous. A superior double with walk in shower and balcony overlooking the beach. It had all the things you would expect, large bed, TV, safe, large bathroom, free wi-fi etc. Another bug bear of mine is the minibar/fridge. At this resort, the contents of the minibar are not included in the AI package, which makes no sense to me when you can go to the bar and order the same stuff.
There are three restaurants on the complex; the Kinnaree, which is the buffet area used for all meals and is the only one that can be used if you are all inclusive (although you get two vouchers for use in the two Al A Cartes, Napolai and Zeus). I personally liked the buffet restaurant, the choices were good and the food was mainly delicious. There were others saying that the choices of non-Thai food was limited but when in Rome...
During our stay, We went to the Napolai twice, and found the food delicious.
One thing I found really strange was you could not use the beach bar to order AI drinks but had to go to the ILA Bar, which served the same beer and cocktails. This bar is located directly behind the beach bar. Weird.
The staff are really hard working, helpful and polite. They are a credit to the resort. Mike, Bli, Ko and Ella in main bar looked after us very well and served up some delicious cocktails. All the girls in the restaurant were great, always smiling and welcoming.
The pool area was clean with plenty of available sun beds dotted around. The parasols need updating though.
One thing I did not like was the smoking around the bar and the fact that the no smoking signs around the seating area were ignored. There were lots of gripes about that.
Overall we had a fabulous holiday, went on loads of trips organised with the Rak Talay people in the hotel (lots cheaper than TUI and you can negotiate prices if there are more of you).
Our gripes are minor but if these small things were sorted (TUI really need to review the AI package), it would have been a 5 Star review. A great time was had by all.

We stayed here from 7 March for 6 nights. Originally booked a swim up room but on arrival was told a problem with air con so hotel Kindly upgraded us to a jacuzzi villa and gave us vouchers for massages and dinner at the buffet restaurant on the main side of the hotel. Villa was lovely as were the massages. However wasn’t so keen on the buffet restaurant as food wasn’t the best quality. After 3 days due to our room being double booked we were then upgraded to a pool villa with all inclusive on the Villa side of the hotel (the 2 sides are separated by a bridge). We had our own pool within our huge villa which was lovely. The Napolai restaurant served a great breakfast and the a la carte dinners were fabulous - I can’t hesitate to recommend the chef - we had the best fillet steak I’ve had in a long while. I can’t recommend the Napolai waiting staff highly enough (especially Pon). In fact all the staff at the hotel were professional and friendly. The Apsara can’t be faulted on their customer service! The hotel itself is a lovely beachfront hotel, a taxi ride away into Khao Lak, but the hotel has a shuttle 2 or 3 times a day. Grounds are really well kept and clean.
To summarise, if you are thinking of staying here - A jacuzzi or pool villa is a must - the pools over this side are quieter and sun beds more spaced out. The main side is busy and sun beds packed around pool. I would also have no hesitation in recommending the Napolai a la carte restaurant especially all inclusive which includes 3 meals and all drinks (wine is expensive in Thailand) so great if you’re a wine drinker. We don’t normally book all inclusive as we like to eat out but we were well impressed!

Massages - we had two included - aromatherapy- and then paid for a Thai massage (599 BHT for 1 hour) - pretty cheap for a hotel spa. Spa staff were professional and knowledgeable- would recommend them highly.

We also booked a longboat trip to go snorkelling through the hotel which was approx £85 per couple and the boat just took the two of us - had a great day including lunch and soft drinks - recommended!

Would have no hesitation in returning.
