I was not sure what to expect when I landed in Kilimanjaro, considering that the journey from the airport to the hotel took ages because of the law on speed limit and there were no signs of any modernisation en-route.
That ways, the hotel turned out to be fairly good. Rooms were very big, each having two king sized beds that could have easily accommodated 4 adults. Be prepared to take precautions against mosquito bites as the dining area has mosquitos swarming all over. The kitchen took ages to serve our evening snacks (we had ordered for veg samosas and a Margarita pizza), reason being everything was being prepared fresh from scratch including the pizza dough.
After a long wait, when we finally tasted the snacks, it was lip smacking especially the samosas. At least 2 hours advance intimation was required for dinner and the chef went out of the way to make vegetarian dishes for some of us which was not part of the regular menu. Food served during dinner also turned out to be great. All in all, this is a no frill hotel which is good for a night’s stay before you start for your safari trip the following day. More
