If you go on your own to Engare Sero without a tour company don‘t forget to get your wildlife&conservation permit for lake Natron in Arusha (30$ per day). At the moment you can only get it in Arusha and they accept just US$. The entrance fee is 35 US$ (once not per day) but you can pay this one in Tsch. If you come by bus it wont stop at the gate so the guards come to the camp to collect the fee.
The waterfalls, lake natron and the foodprints cost together 20US$ which included a guide and which you pay st the tourist office next to the gate south of engare sero. The guides get their share and the rest of the money goes to the local communities.
I visited the waterfalls on mid January and there was a lot of water! The walk along the river and river crossing can be very slippery so bring adequate footwear.
At the end of the 10-15min walk you arrive at waterfalls and natural pools!
Apparently it‘s possible to explore the source of the ricer which must be an adventure. Unfortunately my permit ended and I was not able to do that hike.
