The best thing about Lahiru Villa is that it is a couple of Km outside the city of Galle, and for that reason away from the numbers/tourists.There is a bustop 200m
From the guesthouse.Stop any bus going by for 10lk!!! abit better than a tuk tuk 200-300lkr and obviously more comfy....
Of course the other best thing is that it is a wonderful family run buisness and the food Curry/breakfasts are wonderful. You are made to feel so welcome:-) Of my three week Sri Lankan trip this is by far the most homely stay.THANKYOU SO MUCH.Alan

Ps.If leaving on foot, turn left meet the wonderful people in this district.Just smile and your smile will be doubled.fantastic Stuppa 200m down the road

The rooms are bright, spacious and comfortable. Our hosts were very friendly, nothing too much trouble for them. The evening meal that was cooked for us was amazing and cookery courses in local foods are available which with a little more time to spare we would have taken advantage of. Nandana put together a two day trip for us to Kandy visiting many interesting places and Pinnawala elephant orphanage. His vast knowledge of the country really puts all the sights into perspective. An overall excellent experience and the best part of a fantastic holiday.

Room tip: Second floor has best views.

Highly recommended, the place is really clean and the room is big enough.
The villa is right outside the fort at about 2 minutes by tuk tuk and the owner has his own tuk tuk :)
The family is really helpful and welcoming.
We really enjoyed our stay at LAHIRU !
Thank you for everything !!

This review is more about the host than the home. In few words, villa is spacious, clean and comfortable, has a nice yard with a king coconut in the middle and all guests' rooms are situated on the upper floor, ensuring intimacy, even if there is only one bathroom to share with other guests.
The true experience was about people in here. Lahiru's family is very hospitable, open to chat, willing to share, eager to help. Lahiru himself is a warm-hearted person and helped us a lot with a medical problem that occured - he took us to the hospital, taking care of all administrative problems. Meanwhile, his sister babysat our kids and made coconut shell dolls for them.
We highly recommend the place! Not only for its location or accommodation facilities, but especially for people running it.

The rooms we had were clean and comfortable. Both had hot water in the shower if needed.

On the upper floors there were outdoor spaces to seat and relax.

The owners are very friendly and helpful; Mr Namdana especially, was full of ideas for trips and help in bringing them to fruition.

If you enjoy bird spotting, he will take you for a trip on the local river that we found wonderful. It was a bit expensive by Sri Lankan standards and involved an early morning start but we saw many wonderful birds with his expert help.

The breakfasts were plentiful and we particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit. The evening meals we had were also good and it was a treat to watch the food being cooked in front of us on the first night.

The home stay is situated just a few kilometers away from the fort. The distance is easily walkable in about 30 minutes or a Tuk Tuk should cost about 200 Rupees. Alternatively buses pass by frequently on the main road about 50 meters away and cost just 10.

Another bonus of the location was that it is opposite a 5*hotel where non guests are able to use the huge pool (including nice fluffy towels and sun loungers) all day for just 1000 rupees each.

The hotel also has several bars and restaurants where non guests can enjoy very good (albeit reasonably expensive) food and drink overlooking the sea.

Overall Lahiru Villa was a great choice for us.
