Highlights:

1. Design and interior - A beautifully designed hotel, formally a school and a church.
2. Ambience - The sound of the children playing in the school next door
3. Welcome - The friendly welcome from Peter, Tijana and all the staff at Fort Printers. Peter and Tijana kindly offered us a late check out as we had a night flight
4. Pool - On our last evening we had a swim in the courtyard pool under beautiful trees and twinkle lights. Peter kindly offered us a complimentary beverage whilst we enjoyed our swim. Thanks Peter!
5. The shady quiet spots in the courtyard
6. Complimentary access to the pantry for soft drinks, water, tea and coffee
7. The laundry service was super fast and smelt so fresh!

An absolute delight of a hotel.

We loved this hotel - it is simply beautiful. The interior design is first-class - high ceilings, beautiful polished floors, attention to detail and quality fittings everywhere. It was very special to be here. The staff were also great, very attentive and helpful. We also appreciated the guest kitchen, where we could make ourselves an early morning pot of tea! The lounge and poolside areas were delightful and comfortable places to rest, work, read, eat, enjoy. Thank you all!

We spent one night here during our honeymoon. The hotel was situated in the middle of the city so it was convenient to walk around. The hotel was luxurious with very beautiful rooms and decorations. We used the laundry service and our clothes were ready in a few hours. Tea, coffee and soft drinks were available to us. My husband went for a late afternoon swim in the courtyard and I sat reading a book under a tree with falling flowers. We left very early for a whale boat trip and got a packed breakfast consisting of bread, fruits and a bottle of water. It was quite an enjoyable stay.

So glad to be in the fort itself to stay after the squalor seen in the town on the way in. Hotel was amazing...welcomed warmly and shown to our room which was more like a suite. Huge bathroom/dressing room - bedroom with living room one end and huge bed the other. (use the mosquito net or you will get bitten) Food excellent, service amazing, staff friendly. Bar and pool. Excellently placed for a stroll around town taking in the little shops. Nearly directly opposite is an Italian ice cream shop - belissimo! We were in a room overlooking the outside restaurant area which was noisy at night...music also very loud until about 10pm. Not a problem for us but something to consider if you go to bed early and rise early.

By far the best meal in Galle during a 3 night stay. Don't be put off by the limited choices on the menu; they do every dish on there incredibly well. The sambal fish curry and lamb tagine were fantastic (the lamb tagine was one of the best meals I've ever had), and the mutton samosas are a great starter. The sambal curry comes with a great selection of 4 side dishes too.
Our waiter Sanjeev was great and explained about the origin of the dishes etc. The bill for 2 of us (2 courses with beers and coffees) came to just under £50 including tip, so not the cheapest in Galle but by far the best. Not even the hateful middle aged couple sat behind us subjecting each other to an evening of psychological torture and manipulation could sully the hard work of Sanjeev and co. If you happen to be in Galle, don't be a mug, get down "the printers" for a nosh.
