There was some issue with ordering due to language barriers but ultimately it was a great experience and super tasty and authentic.

For anyone who has traveled extensively in Korea this restaurant will register as on the lower end of average for taste, higher end for price, and low end for cleanliness. The "attraction" is that you first visit the butcher shop to choose your cuts of meat which are overpriced. Next, wait in the waiting room, holding your meat, for up to a half hour for your number to be called. Then, you are led to your table and standard dishes are dropped off and you cook up your meal over hot coals. While All That Asia was not impressed at all with the food or experience we will lay out the pros and cons:
Pros: You can pick your own cuts of meat. The restaurant is in Bomun and close to tourist hotels and easy to find and walk to.
Cons: Overpriced for the food quality and service. The restaurant is busy and staff is not attentive. If you press the call button on your table don't expect anyone to show up, you will have to flag someone down or go looking for them. There are no smoke hoods over your grill and thus the smoke from cooking goes everywhere. This was surprising as the little smoke hood vacuum system is standard even in the cheapest of Korean BBQ joints. The side dishes are very low quality and the veggies (such as bean sprouts) look like they have been sitting out for a while!
Final verdict: Is the food horrible? No. Is it overpriced? Yes. However, remember, you are in one of the most touristy cities in Korea and they do not have to depend on repeat business and the foreigners they deal with usually have limited experience with Korean BBQ. If you tell yourself, "hey, this is a tourist town no different than my own country" you will be just fine with the price you pay and the food you get. It is an acceptable choice for convenience and the food is okay. It does offer an unique experience and they do have a sheet of English instructions to help you out.
This is a unique set up..you go the butcher next door and buy your meat to grill. It's all pork and beef, which posed something of a challenge for my pescatarian wife. But when in Rome do as the Romans do, she decided to just go ahead with the beef option and she was quite pleased that she did.
After buying your meat you go to the restaurant where they sit you at a table and bring a hot coal grill; they provide the untensils and after you can grill your meat to your own preference. You can order rice, soup, noodles, and beverages. They also provide lots of leafy greens, sprouts, and other greens that you use to wrap up the meat. There is a refill station so you can actually go get refills on those items as well as sauces at your own discretion.
The very helpful man at the butcher shop talked us through the various options and had a strong command of English so he was able to provide good advice and help our interactions with the wait staff, most of whom did not speak English. Our total bill was quite reasonable. Overall a unique and very fun experience not far from the resort hotels near the lake.
If you want the best BBQ in the Bomun area come here. First pick out your meat then sit at a table. The beef is super high quality, many different cuts. Not so cheap but totally worth it. At the table they bring you all the condiments lettuce leaf, sesame leaf, garlic , bean paste etc. etc. do not forget to order some beer and soju SOMAK!!! finish with bean paste soup.
I searched on the internet saying that Gyeongju is famous for Korean beef.
We tried this ad it is near to Hilton hotel which would be easier for us to find the restaurant
