I've been to Garlic Lover's Corner probably two dozen times over the years. On a Friday night we decided to go on a whim and arrived a little after 6:30. Almost immediately we could tell it was going to be slow, as there was only one waitress, the hostess, and the owner handling tables. After a wait at the door the hostess finally came up and told us it would take 20 minutes to have a server take our order. We weren't in a hurry, so we agreed, and the three of us were seated in the front of the house. After a bit the owner came to take our order, but nobody had brought us menus yet. When the owner brought our menus, we took the opportunity to order a half bottle of wine and the Tzatziki appetizer.

We placed our orders, and proceeded to enjoy our appetizer and get started on the wine. We really like their Tzatziki, and the warm, seasoned pita hits the spot. We got our salads, which are mixed greens (no iceberg - yay!) and opted for the house garlic cucumber dressing, which is unusual but tasty.

Our meals came out perfectly executed and well presented. The rib eye was grilled to a perfect medium rare, and the garlic gorgonzola sauce and garlic smashed potatoes were good as well. Another of our party got the chorizo sausage alfredo, with delightfully spicy sausage, red pepper, and carmelized onion in a delicious alfredo base. Our third diner ordered the chicken dijon at the recommendation of the owner. The sauces are all outstanding, and everything was delicious. Each of us had enough left over to take some home. Total bill including tax and tip came to about $112 for three.

This is a nice restaurant where you can hang out and have a conversation. We recognized that the service was slow, but we were not in a hurry. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you were in a rush.

Upsides: Great food, nice atmosphere for a strip mall restaurant, not rushed.
Downsides: Slow service, COLD in the front of the house (owner turned on a fireplace heater for us).

I should really go here more often to enjoy some of their other menu selections, which are very tempting as well. Overall, I rate Garlic Lovers' Corner very good and would recommend them as long as slower service doesn't drive you crazy.

From the outside it doesn't look too impressive so don't let that deceive you. Garlic Lover's is wonderful. Inside the tables are spaced out and the noise level is always low so you can really enjoy being with your dinner companion. The owners are almost always there and make sure to come over and welcome you. The food is exquisite and I like how they have a children's menu that includes authentic food (but does have some of the typical options). The wine list is extensive enough and we always linger over coffee. The meal is cooked to order, so expect to sit back and relax, start with some hummus and pita and life will be good.

For a small restaurant in a small strip mall, this is an amazing gem. After more than a dozen visits, we have yet to be disappointed by any meal.

Us and our friends have now tried every menu selection, and many specials, and have enjoyed each and every one. There truly is no bad meal on the menu. It's never busy and always quiet. We have gone wearing jeans and other times dressed up for a good night out. The owner makes it a point to stop by every table to ensure your happiness. He genuinely takes pride in his restaurant. Prices are reasonable and service is always good.

I try to dine at this restaurant on every trip to Albany. The tables are spaced so that it is easy to have a quiet conversation. There is a bar in the front and tables in the back. Love the homemade pita and hummus. This time we shared friend calamari and they were so tender and not rubbery. My friend had the lamb stew and she raved about it. I had a scallop dish. Huge scallops caramelized perfectly. Always a treat and very personal service.

This is a favorite of ours, love the cuisine and it is truly family owned (the family owners are highly available and warm, kind people). NOT open on Sundays as an FYI.
