This restaurant is also known by the more visible sign on the building 'Tokyo Rice Burgers' and the smaller sign 'New Shogun'
It is very nice restaurant near Losari Beach, and from the restaurant you have a fantastic view of the waterfront. Sunset is fabulous here.
But of course, we did not come here just for the view, we came to eat.
There is a great variety in Western and Asian food, and it is all equally good. We visited with a group and without exception everyone was pleased by the quality and taste of the food.
Most restaurants in this part of the beach look unattractive (mostly shabby) to tourists, but this place looks clean and neat and the service is great. Many (well to do) locals also visit this restaurant.
I would really recommend it if you are unsure where to (safely) eat as a tourist. Walking along the Losari Beach to the north you cannot miss it (10 minute walk), but it is a lot easier to take a taxi or betjak.
Somehow Japanese food is popular in Makassar. I found Shogun on 3 levels to be among the best. Good selection of fresh food with well served dishes. The tatami rooms are very nice and one floor is for regular tables
There are nice Sumo related decorations. well worth a visit!
The best restaurant in Makassar? Shogun!
Alone, for couples or with friends you could enjoy the best sunsets at its Terrace, my "Leaving Room".
Its owner, Ms. Julia Pupella, has created a place where you can enjoy the elegance and the Asian fineness. Its menu serves an exquisite mix of traditional and international cuisine with the original flavors of Asia. All kinds of drinks and cocktails are served in an exclusive and relaxing atmosphere. I have always enjoyed so pleasant atmosphere.
Went here with friend at 5th floor and the place was nice and very relaxed. Very suitable for laid back chat with friends. Amazingly, it was not so crowded considering that i went on saturday night. The main drawback for me was the closing hour of 11pm on weekend which is very early for a place with quite good selection of drinks.
Price is average.
Location is great. Coming around sunset time would be a plus, i think.
