Review of Sam Po Kong Temple

Sam Po Kong Temple

If you are traveling to Semarang, you should visit this place. This place has a magnificent temple and big yard. I recommend you to come around 3-5 pm because the weather is so hot at noon and there's no trees around the yard. If you want to pray at the big temple or just take a look around for some photo you must pay for extra money.

It is a nice temple, in memory of Admiral Zheng Ho. You can get few nice pictures of it. You can also rent their chinese costume for photo taking.

Who is Admiral Zheng He you said? It doesn't matter if you don't know him at all. Because by coming here you could read some of his history. Fyi, it could get quite scorching in the afternoon, so it would be wise to come here in the morning or between 15.00-16.00

Really good for you who addicted in bragging yourself over social media

We took a Grab car from and to the temple as it's a bit difficult to get there by public transport and it's a few kilometres to the SW of the town centre. The complex consists of several individual temples and it's a nice spot to visit and relax. There are a few benches and trees so it's also good in hot and sunny weather. There's also a shop that sells bottles of water and sodas. The entry fee was IDR 40.000 per person, if I remember correctly, and included the square and all of the temples. You can opt to only visit the square but I'd recommend to pay the full price as the temples to the right are definitely worth it. Dress modestly with covered shoulders and knees and be aware that you have to take off your shoes to access some of the temples. Don't try to enter the door in the wall to the far right behind a row of temples. It's only marked in Bahasa so it wasn't immediately clear to us. "Dilarang" means forbidden, so watch out for that word.

It's quite nice to visit, especially the temples, which is divided by a fence and a water stream from the rest of the complex.

The temples have nice wood carving and also the stone relief with the history is fascinating.
