THE LOCATION
Grand Tebu is located at Martadinata Street (previously known as Riau Street) that is popularly known because of the tens of Factory Outlets located there. Although Grand Tebu Hotel happens to be located on the wrong end of the street, where there are no more factory outlets, there are still plenty eateries around. There is also a large Alfamart convenience store across the street.

THE HOTEL
Quick note: this is DIFFERENT from Hotel Tebu.
Ground floor is lobby only. Floors 1, 2, 3 and 5 are for parking. Restaurant occupies the whole 6th floor. Meeting rooms on 7th floor. Ballroom on 17th floor. Swimming pool and gym on 18th floor. Here is an issue with that setting, which I experienced first-hand. When there is an event in the ballroom on the 17th floor, all the event attendees have to use the same lift as the hotel guests. When the event attendees are arriving and leaving, you have to wait long time before you can catch an empty lift.
This hotel calls itself 4-star, but nothing to prove it with. Nor the facilities or the level of service justifies its 4-star status. It’s a new hotel, hardly finished, and leaves too much to be desired. Gym is still a vacant, unfinished room, the pool is the size of 1 Toyota Alphard, really not much to swim in.

THE HOTEL’S GENERAL FACILITIES
The lobby: rather spacious with some sofa seats, with their reception desk awkwardly positioned in a corner.
The restaurant: moderately spacious, but use wrong (meeting rooms) furniture, so it doesn’t look like a restaurant at all.
Swimming pool: in construction, small, more like kiddy-pool size.
Fitness center/gym: in construction
WIFI: free, available throughout the hotel, with username & password.
Business center: not available
Parking: 4 above-ground floors of parking, tight space, tight corners

THE ROOM
The hotel has 7 floors with rooms from 8th floor onwards. Square-meter-wise the room is roomy, yet poorly designed so it leaves the impression it is small. Dark floor and few lighting make the room dark and seem even smaller. Has a sofa without back by the window and too-small work desk. The light above the work desk is not comfortable for work or reading.
And a safe-deposit-box that is not anchored anywhere so anyone can take it away from your room. How do I know? When I reported the SDB is locked by the previous guest, instead of coming with a master-key, the engineering guy came with a replacement SDB.
The worst part of the room is the bathroom. Probably the idea is to save money on doors, so they put only one door that functions both as the bathroom door as well as the shower door. So you have a choice between (a) close the bathroom (especially if you want to walk freely from toilet to shower) and risk wetting the rest of the bathroom floor while you shower or (b) close the shower and exposing the rest of the bathroom. And then, the shower has glass wall they covered with colored sheeting. Very uncomfortable if you stay there for meetings and you share room with fellow attendees. Furthermore, the shower has nothing to put your shower-gel or soap on. You end up putting the soap either on the floor or outside the shower. For a hotel that is just months old, it is surprising to already see molds in the corners of the shower wall.

IN-ROOM FACILITIES
Safe Deposit Box: available, but not anchored, anyone can take it away with lock and all.
Minibar: not available, just empty small refrigerator
Ironing board: not available
TV: 32" LCD TV, too few channels.
Facial Tissue paper: available
Water kettle: available
Coffee/tea set: available
Shower: walk-in shower
Hair dryer: available
Soap: soap bar

THE BREAKFAST
The taste is good, good variety. Plenty of cut fruit, juice and also milk. There is Indonesian cuisine and some bread.

THE SERVICE
• The staff appear and behave as if they have never gone to any hotel school. They are polite, and friendly, but lacking professionalism you expect from 4-star hotel staff.
• The chair at the work desk in the room is wobbly and I almost fell over. I reported it the next day and the reception responded, “Did they put that chair back in the room? Last week a guest already fell from the chair.” Well, that’s NOT the kind of response you expect from a professional hotel staff, is it? When I asked for a replacement, they said they have no spare chairs. After I insisted, they brought a chair from a meeting room. Two days later, they put in a proper chair.
• The restaurant operates just as a food outlet because the kitchen has no staff except for the guy who cooks eggs. How do I know? They have an open-kitchen concept and everyone can see there is no cooking activity there. All the food is supplied from outside vendor (I found that out at the end of our 3-day meeting there, when our dinner was seriously delayed because “it came from outside”, they said). Except for breakfast, you can’t order anything at the restaurant.
• Internet service is UNRELIABLE, either slow or intermittent.
• Some towels are smelly.

Room Tip: Rooms on floors 9 and above have better view.

This is a brand new hotel, the rooms initially look very nice but then you start to see the short cuts. The towel holder was hanging by a screw, no room service, coffee, blow dryer in the room. It was clean thou and reasonable price. Good breakfast and the swimming pool was nicem only open for 1 week!
Staff were good.

The location of the hotel is great, close to the restaurants and FO. The room is well designed and spacious. The bed and pillows are very comfort. But the amenities and towels are not good enough, considering a new hotel.

It's a new hotel and still busy to finish it. I like to see it when it's finished. Very central The rooms and beds are fine and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Pak Amed.
The restaurant can have a little more variety at breakfast. Like more cereal and bread choice for the western guest. But maybe that's because its a new hotel.
