Description: Hujan, meaning rain, will focus the essentials of cuisine with a "found and foraged" philosophy. Chef Will Meyrick is a manifestation of his desire to return to creating smaller restaurants serving the cuisines of Indonesia, the nation he has been a part of, for more than a decade. Hujan is Meyrick's vehicle in implementing his countless researches throughout the country, in contrast to his role of the iconic chef in the faster paced and urban restaurants of Mama San and Sarong.

One of the most delicious meals I have had in Bali. They don't hold back on flavours and every bite of food you take is filled with various spices and is just delicious.

I had the slow braised lamb curry with anise, cardamom and roti canai - and words can't explain how delicious this curry was. Lot of times when you see curry - I picture them pouring some coconut milk to make the 'gravy'. This wasn't like that at all - it was filled with spices that seemed to be roasted and ground together with coconut. (will stop drooling now)

The street food appetizer is delicious!

Service was amazing. Our waiter patiently explained various entrees to us and helped us make a choice and also helped us pair sides / appetizers. Will absolutely go back there when we're back in Bali!

The service was excellent and the food was incredible. Best restaurant we have eaten at in Bali! Authentic Indonesian food, with the freshest ingredients.

And they had amazing cocktails.

The food and all round experience was fantastic. The menu was authentic and modern. Service was prefessional and friendly. The best restaurant we visited while in Ubud. Would recommend to anyone visiting Bali.

I was a little sceptical when a well-travelled friend waxed lyrical about this restaurant, but it managed to exceed all my expectations. The food is excellent, managing to marry traditional Indonesian food with western techniques. The slow cooked beef with black nut sauce was especially memorable.

They have great cocktails too, and the restaurant has a charming plantation vibe, despite being very much in the heart of Ubud town. It may not be as celebrated as some of its neighbours but it certainly is a must-eat venue!

Absolutely worst customer service I have ever encountered. We have had amazing recommendations for this place and called had a reservation got to the restaurant and everything that was on the menu was sold out. No one told us that over the phone before getting there. Once getting there absolutely everything we wanted was sold out to a point that we got up and left. Absolutely horrible

Dear Slang 713,

We have tried to pinpoint your visit, we have not had a night where everything has been sold out, but we have been busy and when the items are sourced fresh and local it can mean some menu items are not available, but not to the extent that it would be mentioned in a prior booking. Our staff are most often complimented on their service and as you say we are highly regarded and recommended so we find it hard to discover what went wrong for you.
It's very sad you encountered this experience on your honeymoon and we can only hope that everything got better eventually. Hujan Locale
