Our visit was fantastic. We got the opporunity to stay in villa Mads Lange. The villa are amazing, own infinitypool and jacuzzi. Great wiew from the terass to see djungle, animals like all birds and monkeys.

The owner himself, Peter, and his staff, especially Ngurah, made our stay perfect.

We are so pleased and happy that We got the opportunity to stay at Tanahv Merah!

Dont miss the museum!

I came across this place while doing some research on this site and the internet as i was looking for somewhere authanic to stay and get a real feel of Bali, and i am very happy to say that i wasn't disappointed at all.

On my arrival to Bali and the taxi ride from the airport, i was wondering what i had lead myself into as there was so much hustle and bustle going on, that this may not be the peaceful holiday i was looking for!

The Hotel is about 15/20 minute drive from Ubud and tucked away in the majesty of the natural forest that surrounds it, and is made up of many individual properties and something to meet everyones requirements.
Once we got there, we were very well looked after by the staff with the minimum of hassle, shown to our beautiful cottage raised on stilts with the steps leading down to the bathroom, the room was very clean and tidy, AC and a ceiling fan were provided to keep one cool during the day, mosquito nets around the twin beds to keep away the pesky bugs away!
Unfortunately the beds and pillows were a bit too soft for our comfort but you can always ask for more pillows, and the general lighting in the room was a little on the low side, the bathroom was spacious and well equipped.
The Breakfast was amazing and very good value for money, their suppers were good too.

If you are a lover of Art?
Then this is definitely the place for you, the owner "Peter" who we had the pleasure of meeting has a very large collection of art and artifacts on show at the galleries within the resort complex, something well worth ones time to view.

There is so much more that can be said of my experience there but not enough time to write it all down on here, All i can say is that if you want something unique and down to earth, with a real homely feeling and scenery to chill out in, then this is definitely the place for you.
I for one; wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.

This is a really nice place to stay and totally different to anything else I experienced so far.
The hotel's site, located at the top of a beautiful jungle valley, is huge and also has access to the river at the bottom of the valley. Ask the staff for a swimming tour in the river!
Furthermore, there are two nice swimming pools, a restaurant for breakfast with a gorgeous view and another one for lunch and dinner. The rooms definitely have 5 stars standards. Only the fitness room is a little bit small and has only old equipment. Thus, I would actually just give 4 points.

But, there is one reason why the place nevertheless earns the 5 points and this is the magical, enchanting flair of the whole place. The owner, a Dutch Dentist, is a art lover. There are statues, vases, huge pictures and nice furniture everywhere. Every room is unique. Finally the hotel has several floors and rooms containing a variety of Indonesian and Asian art of the past twelve centuries. You have to ask for a tour! It's so amazing. And free!

We have spent 2 nights with my wife at Tanah Merah Art Resort and it was amazing time with the wonderful nature and perfect service.
Stuff are very kindly and helpfull.Room was very clean, big and fresh. Breakfast and dinner was delicious.
Hotel is close to the Ubud centre and also provides free transport .
We used Mads Lange Villa and it has private really nice infinity swimming pool with panaromatic view ( I searched many hotels and I can tell It is best of the Ubud)
with private jacuzzi.
We highly recommend it.
We definetly back again for in our next Bali trip.

While sitting in New York City this spring and planning our three week stay in Ubud for August it wasn't easy to feel secure selecting a hotel based on Internet reviews. I was more than a little nervous about it. The Tanah Merah sounded fabulous and like just the place for us so we gave it a go. As it turned out it was the best travel decision we've ever made! Every accolade you'll read in reviews here is an understatement and doesn't begin to describe how amazing this place is. And no, I'm not connected in any way with the hotel (other than being an ecstatic customer). The Tanah Merah is the perfect spot from which to explore the wonderful bustling town of Ubud as well as many other parts of Bali. It's a short shuttle ride into Ubud (provided by the hotel all day until 6pm). However when you're back at the hotel you find yourself in a jungle paradise overlooking a gorgeous river gorge. The villas are all huge, comfortable and beautiful and filled with fantastic Balinese art and furniture. The grounds are breathtaking and you feel as if you're living in a work of art. The swimming pools are gorgeous and beautifully set amidst lush landscaping. Breakfast is served every morning in the most fabulous spot with indescribable views. Breakfasts are delicious. Oh how I miss those mornings! The staff is always helpful, gracious, concerned and kind. One staff member sweeter than the next. We made sure (at their request) to take photos with many of them before we checked out. Peter, the owner, is an amazingly interesting guy. A fabulous conversationalist with a myriad of wonderful stories to tell. Make sure to pull up a chair at some point in his office and shoot the breeze. Finally, I saved for last what is possibly the most AMAZING thing about the place. Below the place is a 20,000 sq. foot museum quality space housing Peter's extensive and mind boggling collection of Balinese, Indonesian and Asian art. I still can't get over it. MAKE SURE to tour it. Peter will set that up for you as he did for us. As I mentioned earlier we spent three weeks there. It became a home to us. We were sad to leave and hope to get back there someday, somehow.
