We have already experienced our first two nights at Junjungan Ubud and are so pleased we have two more to go! Yes, it is out of the central "downtown" area of Ubud, but, to us, that is a blessing...Ubud is certainly not the peaceful, quaint place we first visited 25 years ago...and, in fact, if it wasn't for this lovely little hotel with it's exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, we would have left after the first day...Ubud central is just mayhem! Furthermore, the hotel drivers are basically "on call" to take you just about anywhere (with a little notice) and pick you up..at either a designated time and location or you just call them and they appear in about 10 minutes...all at no charge. We are staying in a Deluxe Awan (less than AUD$80 p/n), which is huge, with an enormous bath-tub (beware the hot water is REALLY hot!) and a cute balcony overlooking very peaceful, picturesque rice-fields. Fabulous, enormous breakfasts...as someone else has already suggested, two people could easily get by sharing one dish...in fact, we shared the Farmer's Breakfast this morning. We've also eaten lunch (the Nasi Goreng and the Spring Rolls...both of which were the best...and biggest...we've had in Bali)...and had dinner here last night (an "entree" River Salad was enough for a main meal and the Chicken in wine gravy was yummy!). The rooms are airconned and have TV (only 3 English-channels, but that's enough, although reception is a bit poor) and a DVD player, with a good range of DVDs held at Reception for borrowing. Very comfy bed, very clean.....the only minor issues are that the rooms are not very sound-proofed (possibly resulting from the very high ceilings?) and our neighbours apparently complained about the noise level when we were watching a movie in the late afternoon (although, to us, the volume didn't seem loud). We also had some minor maintenance issues - electric jug would not work and had to be replaced and door handle fell off....also quickly replaced. However, all in all, great place with great people. We'd definitely come back...if it wasn't in Ubud!

Room Tip: Better to get a room that is not directly above the restaurant..the sound and smells come through.

we stayed here for 2 nights in January. Loved the location, the serenity, the views of the rices paddies and the staff. We found the location peaceful and the free shuttle very convenient - we ate in town several times and went shopping/exploring and they always picked us up promptly. The breakfast and afternoon tea was great and good to see minimal waste as you ordered breakfast rather than a big buffet spread. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Would def come back,

A lovely small hotel with the most obliging and friendly staff. Siwi the manager was a delightful person with a great smile and charm.
I was like coming home to a little bit of paradise after a day of walking around the streets of Ubud.
The rooms were spacious and well appointed and it had a safe.
The best spring rolls in Bali are to be found here.
Would love to return soon. Excellent value.

We loved this hotel. I was authentic design, wonderful service and friendly staff. We ate 4 meals here and they were delicious. Very close to Ubud with the serenity of being in the country.

On entering the large double gates this place oozes charm. Its only a small complex with some 8 to 10 exquisit rooms. As you exit the vehicle you are greeted by the absolutely lovely friendly face of SIWI who runs this place brilliantly. She askes each member of the party their name and addresses them by their name every time she greets you over the course of your stay. She is ably assisted by an army of young balinese workers who can't do enough to make your stay as pleasant and memorable as is possible. The food is 5 star be it breakfast which is included in the price ,lunch which isn't necessary after the huge breakfast or dinner. The very reasonably priced food and drink is also nett price which means you won't be slugged an extra 15%-20% tax at the end of the meal. The friendly staff in the kitchen will vary their meals to your requirements with out any fuss they are the best. The bed would be the best I have slept in including the one at home. The room is very well equipped with new flat screen and DVD. fridge hairdryer etc etc. The villa is 3.5 km out of Ubud but the driver is on call to transport guests for free. The pool is only small but great to sit arround and enjoy a few bintangs or drinks of your own which they don't mind you doing. This place is a must stay if you go to Ubud it truly is an experience you will remember. Make sure you get back for afternoon tea for the homemade cake or sweet baked that day all included in the price. You made our stay an absolute treat SIWI, we and our 4 friends will definitely be back either later this year or early next year.

Room Tip: We had the delux Awan which were fantastic but there are apparently even better WOW
