Loved it here, great pool with the back drop of the jungle, staff very friendly, nice and clean rooms.. just loved it.. would definitely recommed here, great resturant next door which has got best resturant 2016 2017 in bali/ubud.. good little bakery too! I mention this as the food we found very average in the puri bunga resort is why i gave 4 stars instead of 5.. but yes would recommend great hotel!

Our experience with this hotel was, that we didn't get what we expected.

The infinity pool was not filled, so the effect didn't work. This led to it being very dirty, because the filter is outside the pool. The infinity- as well as the other pool is very smelly from the clorine, which signified that they werent clean as well.

It did not help on our experience that we could not enjoy the otherwise great view due to some construction work in the valley.

The shuttle runs twice pr. Day, and only one-way. The hotel is quite far away from the center of Ubud, so we ended up spending quite the amount of money to transfer back and forth.

Rooms are decent, but you hear everything happening in the rooms around you..

Staff are nice and welcomming, and always helpful - with very little improving, this hotel can do much better!

We stayed here for 4 nights in June this year. Although the rooms, admittedly do need renovating, they were clean and the beds were comfortable and it was cheap. The rooms were also spacious. But the views absolutely won us over. It's also not a bad location from the Main Street where all restaurants and bars can be found. We loved our time in the Puri Bunga and definitely would go back. Thank you to all the staff, who were extremely friendly and helpful. Also if your staying here and want to see the elephants, the hotel gave the best offer and it's well worth it.

Prior to arriving, we had contacted the hotel twice by email with no response but were told on checking-in that they were reading our emails now - not a lot of use for answering our questions!
The first room we had was below the restaurant, fantastic size but the blind at the door was broken and tied together, light switches loose on the wall, inside of the fridge was brown, toilet brown, window open to the elements with no screen, no mosquito net, cigarette ends on the balcony, dust and rubbish under the bed, looked like it hadn't
been cleaned for at least 2 years. Looking for a socket for the kettle, we looked behind the bedside tables, big mistake, it was absolutely filthy and there was rubbish, found a socket behind one of the settee's but there was a blanket of dust growing out the back of it. The bed was comfy and there was plenty of hot water, unfortunately that was the only hot water we had for our 10 day stay. We complained and were moved the next day.
The second room was in the newer block, it was cleaner but is heading the same way as the first room. The bed linen was stained although bed very comfortable with mosquito net although dirty. Net curtains on windows you could see used to be white are now black, the wiring on the bedside lamps was loose and you had to move it around until the light came on, lampshades stained. No hot water ever, shower door thick with lime scale, sink overflow black, lightbulbs not working, cobwebs in the wardrobe and round the bath. The bathroom had a huge picture window but no glass, only shutters, if there had been a screen, at least we could have opened the shutters letting in more light. The floor was occasionally swept but it was never clean. The table on the balcony was in the middle of an ant highway, okay, we're in the forest and expect insects but this was ridiculous, there was no insect spray so we bought our own, we went through 2 cans and the majority of the dead insects are still on the balcony, it wasn't cleaned, there was a dirty ashtray on the table, neither of us smoke and again it was still dirty when we left. The hotel had plants on the balcony which were dry and dying, we watered these ourselves but couldn't the staff see that for themselves!
There was a scorpion in the room which my partner killed, we reported this to reception
as we didn't know if these ones were poisonous, they are but apart from a horrified look, nothing was said or done by the staff. I was also bitten by a red ant in the room, again reception were informed and again nothing done.
With some TLC and a very deep clean, this could be a lovely resort. The views are stunning, food okay but only breakfast available with only 3 choices which never varied, there was a room service menu in the room but the kitchens weren't open. The grounds were well kept but there was a box of empty beer bottles outside the block of rooms that was only cleared away the day we left but the dilapidated cardboard box was left behind. I'm not sure if the cleaning staff were lazy or just totally disinterested.
We were booked to stay for 2 weeks but after out last excursion we left and went elsewhere.

Had a lovely stay at this resort, the view was amazing and the staff very friendly.
It's very central to the nice spots to visit and you can also do rafting across the hotel.
Would love to come back soon again!
