“Lovely villa with every convenience”
Reviewed 17 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Booking was extremely simple. Steve organised payment in AUD on our arrival, organised a transfer from our previous location and an efficient transfer to the airport for our flight. The villa was exactly as stated with every amenity. It was situated in a quiet lane, surrounded by rice fields. The high walls gave privacy and it was indeed a haven. Use of the outdoor areas in the evening neccessitated the application of industrial strength mosquito repellents and the coils that were provided but after all this was the rainy season in the tropics! Wayan, did as much or as little as we requested as we preferred to have our privacy. High speed internet and a good media system, together with the pool, helped to while away the afternoons in luxurious laziness! Highly recommended and we would love to come back.

“Stunning villa, but a couple of little issues”
Reviewed 11 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

The villa is set back from the main road and so it was very quiet and secluded, the odd motorbike passing by.
The set up for day time is just great, however the outside open living area is susceptible to mosquitoes and so we spent most nights relaxing in the bedrooms.
The main bedroom seemed to always smell of sewerage possibly from the air conditioner unit??
This was our first stay in a villa and I think we may do this more often, the space and privacy is great.
Wayan cooked breakfast for us each day and is a great asset to the villa, he's got a great nature and our boys enjoyed talking with him when he was there.
On the last day we ended up leaving earlier than we had planned, because Wayan wanted to clean the room prior to the next people arriving early. It just felt off-putting so we left for Legian which was our next stay, on arrival there we couldn't check-in early so we left our bags and went shopping.
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this villa, however we were told to book direct for a discount, so keep this in mind if you do.

“Beautiful villa in Ubud”
Reviewed 29 October 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Our experience in Villa Romantica was amazing. Great stay for two couples, groups of friends or a family. Villa romantica offered two beautiful rooms with very spacious ensuites, a great sized pool, two tv areas to lounge around in, fully functional kitchen and an outdoor area that looked over breathtaking rice fields. Our host Wayan, was amazing! Not only did was he friendly, cooked us breakfast every morning, cleaned after us, he drove on his own accord to transfer money for us. Villa romantica is a short walk to restaurants and shops and a 5-10 minute bike ride to ubud markets. Very impressed with our stay at Villa Romantica. Will definitely be back.

“Just perfect !”
Reviewed 26 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

I have recently stayed in Villa Romantica , the stay was perfect from start to finish. If you have the chance to rent this villa do so, you won't be disappointed !! It is perfectly positioned amongst the rice paddies in the village of Penestanan. The villa itself is large, comfortable, and maintained daily by a wonderful house boy "Wayan" whose smiling face and desire to make our holiday as comfortable as possible was outstanding . The villa itself is within walking distance of several splendid local restaurants and Eve's spa for that end of the day pampering that makes all holidays complete. Ubud is a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi drive away. Steve is the manager of the villa and his prompt reply from our initial booking to all of our questions was flawless.
Our holiday was perfect and we will certainly return .

“Unbelievable experience”

We stayed at Villa Romantica for a week in June 2015 and it was the best way to arrive in Bali. Before we selected a villa we spent some time discussing our needs with Steve, the Australian villa manager. Steve had some very good suggestions and was able to help us narrow our choices down and we made the decision on Villa Romantica.

Arrival at the villa was easy. Steve arranged for the villa driver to meet us at the airport. We even emailed Steve to say our flight was delayed on the way and he was in contact with us immediately to assure us the driver would be waiting. Sure enough Oni was there for us with a clear sign. A beautifully clean mini-van took us up to the villa while Oni chatted to us about life in Bali.

We were met by Wayan, who is responsible for the villa. He'd come out from a temple visit to welcome us and was dressed in his temple best - lovely and great service. He hauled our luggage on his scooter to the villa for us. It's only a short walk ( two minutes dawdling) to the villa from the taxi park. Wayan showed us around the villa, explained various things like Wifi and then left us to unpack.

Villa Romantica is lovely, it has everything a family could want. An icy pool for dipping in, two beautiful ensuite bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen with a huge water cooler, a media room with daybeds to lounge upon (you can camp out under the mossie nets too one night, just ask Wayan to put them up for you).

One of the reasons we selected the villa was for the rice viewing terrace. The rice had been harvested but we actually found that to be a bonus - we got some great photographs of the area reflected in the water and watched the tireless ladies groom the fields in preparation for the new crop of rice. The local kids played in the empty paddies, launching kites.

Wayan came in daily to make a lovely breakfast. He memorised within a day what everyone liked, abet he was puzzled why the kids didn't want eggs but would rather have toast! He'd then clean up quietly and make beds etc. One day after he'd finished for the day he saw that the rain had started and rushed back to our villa to get the washing in that we'd done the night before - this is outstanding service.

The villa has a lovely fishpond. Wayan let the kids feed the fish daily and at night we were delighted with frogs on the lawn. The kids soon found several frogs that became quite tame, sitting in the same spot every night and allowing a gentle pat.

Being in a village you get the normal village noises and creatures. We loved the lizards, the field mouse that visited and the roosters and chooks in the area. We got to know some of the local puppies and a large herd of ducks in the rice paddies. The locals would putt past on their motorcycles and the chap selling cheap eats for locals would visit in the afternoons and we'd watch the local kids line up for a bowl of whatever he was selling that day.

We really enjoyed our time at Villa Romantica. One child cried all afternoon and evening after we left. The other hugged Wayan heartily and informed him he was now a Hindu and Daddy would buy one of Mr Steve's villas to live in. I guess that says how much we loved being there. Steve made the whole process seamless and easy.

We'll be back. My kids are still raving about Villa Romantica and Ubud Private Villas even now.
