The waiters and waitresses can't do enough for you to make sure you enjoy your meal. The setting is beautiful, overlooking the river and the food is stunning. We tried the tasting menu and were not disappointed.

We tried to book a Romantic Dinner at Swept Away a couple of days ahead - silly us - the restaurant is booked up a month ahead for this special candlelight ultra romantic dinner perched right besides the gorgeous Ayung river but unbelievably they had a last minute cancellation and we were able to snatch up the reservation - karma at work!
We booked the Romatic Candle Lit dinner - 200 tea-light candles along the river bank and around our table with a beautiful heart shaped candelabra next to the table. We got there just before dark so we got to see the river in its beauty before it got dark and was lit with candles - so very beautiful. Flowers were scattered along the paths to the table and formed an I love U at the bottom, so much thought and attention to detail. The Maitre De had asked what we preferred to eat when we took the booking and he said they would attend the markets to prepare as well as their own organic veggie garden - we dont eat Pork, Beef or Lamb so we had a 6 course meal around seafood and Veggies. The food was fantastic very much Nouvelle so small servings but exciting and interesting combinations of flavors - really delicious - the service was excellent every wait person was so friendly and infectious without being over the top, we had the Maitre De and the General Manager come to wish us well which was nice. Overall I would rate this as probably the best romantic dinner I have had considering all aspects of the night - the ambience, the river, the food and the service and when you translated the cost of the evening into $AUD it wasnt even that expensive!

We were really excited to dine at Swept Away having read all the effusive reviews on TripAdvisor. Staying in the Komaneka Monkey Forest we had become accustomed to the kind of service that you can experience in top hotels in Ubud.

Swept Away is located a short taxi ride out of town, in a lovely villa complex. It is worth booking ahead, as they are very, very, very concerned about people turning up without reservations. We booked about a week in advance, but still a fuss was made by several members of staff on arrival - this doesn't set your guests at ease and make them feel at home. I understand that lot of people may turn up without reservations, but there is a way to talk to customers....

You are taken in a golf buggy down to the restaurant. It is set up as shown in the photographs, but is less impressive in person. (I may be a bit jaded!)

The service was good, without being anything special. We were asked what our names were, but were never addressed by them again. In the Komaneka every member of staff learned guests (and diners) names and addressed them as such. Those sorts of small details have a huge impact.

The food was good quality, timely and well portioned. Nothing to shout too loudly about, but pleasant.

There were a lot of empty tables when we went. It seems that they reserve a number of tables for people staying in the villas, but they don't necessarily all dine in....

Worth a visit, but go without expectations of the hype set out by other diners.

We had a fantastic meal here, the location is amazing, We initially wanted the 100 candle dinner but it was booked it, but we were given a lovely table with a love heart shaped candelabra and garden setting with river views. The service is second to none, nothing was too much trouble. The drinks and food were good, not mind blowing but of good quality and well executed. We will book well in advance next time to ensure we get the 100 candle table
