From the moment we sat down we were welcomed into like Putus home. We had Putu's chicken/ pork special sauce and one of best taste in all Bali. Deserts, drinks and atmosphere all made worth coming back. Is in quiet lication which we like. Great value also.

Firstly let me say it is a bit hard to book & find, not a criticism but a "need to know" fact especially with only 4 tables you do need to book.
But you will be rewarded with a loverly experience at a very reasonable prices.
The menu is small but the pork with their special sauce was the best meal that we had in our 2 weeks in Bali. The welcome is warm & the discussion with our host re current temple festivals, their cooking methods, etc was very pleasant.
Dont go looking for a steak or a cappucino, this is a balinese special experience.

I cannot believe some of the people who have written negative reviews about Wild Ginger, what do you expect for $3? Geeze!
We assumed Wild Ginger would be yummy and cheap from the reviews I read, and it was that and so much more.
The food was delish, the service was fantastic and the people were so friendly. I just loved travelling up this dark street, not really knowing where we were going, to arrive at this cute little restaurant where you know the profits, which i couldn't imagine being much, are going straight to a lovely Balinese family. Thanks for a great meal which we have told many of our friends about!

Authentic balinese food, cooked by a balinese husband and wife, lots of character and intimacy and a truly unique restaurant

We arranged for the slow cooked duck dish as advised by other Trip Advisors... It was awesome!!! Wild Ginger is small and intimate and has a bit of "old school Ubud" to it. The food was incredible, as were our hosts for the evening ( I really wish I could remember names!!) Friendly and relaxed environment and a great meal. Ask them to spice it up if you want some true Balinese flavour as the food is spiced down to accomodate those western palates!!!
