Although located in the heart of Sanur, the villa provides privacy and insulation from the hustle and bustle of the town or beach. It is only 5 minutes walk from the main street (Jalan Danau Tamblingan) where loads of restaurants and shops are located, and only 15 minutes from the less-crowded part of the beach which we favoured. It is one of a small number of villas, each separately within its own enclosing walls, all located within a gated compound. The villa comprises an attractive, high-ceilinged central living area, together with two enclosed and separate bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The central area is open to and looks out upon the swimming pool and has a dining table for four, a games or drinks table for four, comfortable easy chairs and sofa, and a modest kitchen. This area is not air-conditioned but is kept reasonably comfortable by fans, the high ceiling, and sun-blinds. The two bedrooms are on either side of the central living area, making it ideal for two couples sharing (as we had). The bedrooms are air-conditioned and each has its own fully-equipped bathroom. Taking our morning shower outdoors was a real delight, but for those who prefer there is also an indoor shower and a bath. The bed was excellent and we slept really well. The kitchen is rather limited but like most people we ate all our main means out, using the kitchen for breakfast (the wonderful fresh fruits so readily available) or for an evening snack. The small garden area around the pool is delightfully planted and provides a display of flowers and attracts many birds. The whole outdoor area is watered and cleaned and maintained daily. The centre-piece, however, is the large private pool - which is the cleanest pool with the cleanest water we have ever experienced. It benefits from daily attention from a man who quickly cleans it as well as tests the water end ensures everything is working properly. We made daily use of this pool, for example cooling off after walking back from the beach, and it quickly became a core part of our life in the villa. A cheerful and helpful young Balinese woman (Ayu) comes six days a week to clean the bedrooms and the central area, wash dishes - and wash, dry and iron all the dirty clothes. (Remember, this is a hot and humid climate - what I call a "two shirt a day" place.) She also provides advice, support and assistance. For instance when one of our party became ill, Ayu helped organise a doctor to come to the villa. The owner (Ellie) is responsive, helpful, and flexible - easy to deal with and a pleasure to meet. Villa Damai was indeed a marvellous place to stay. And we would happily return to it as/when we can get back to Bali. There are, inevitably, some things which are not "perfect". For example, the plumbing shows its age and the water pressure is not always what one would like. And although the area was very quiet for most of our stay (in a less-busy season), there were some days when a family with children were in the next-door villa and they were quite unnecessarily noisy, once starting before 07:00 in the morning. This is not the fault of Villa Damai, of course, but simply the result of the various villas being close to one another - and of parents who don't bother to control the shouting and screaming of their children. But then, nothing is perfect. And Villa Damai was the central part of what became a fabulous holiday in Bali.
We had a great stay in this lovely Villa with a fantastic pool. Its situated close the main street in Sanur just a 5 minute walk to Hardys Store. Jump in a Taxi and for $2 you are at the beach in under 5 minutes. Great location, close to shops and the Night Market.
Bali is very hot and in Villa Damai we always use the pool to cool off and hang around with family. Ellie and team are very friendly, quick reply on every emails and requests. They made our stay in Bali was flawless and perfect. We cannot wait to go back and stay in Villa Damai.
a little out of the way, but quiet and restful. the pool is great, the accom lovely, Au (the maid) wonderful.
The photos do not do this villa justice! It is spectacular. The staff, especially Ayu are just lovely and keep the villa in perfect condition.
Dealing with Ellie was easy and she was most helpful.
We love this place so much we will be booking again for our next two trips.
Close to the main road with plenty of restaurants and shopping but far enough away that it is peaceful and relaxing!
